A few weeks ago, during my typical evening scroll, I paused mid-swipe upon seeing an image of Sofia Richie Grainge. It wasn’t her announcement of a second pregnancy or the debut of her brand SRG Atelier that drew my attention; rather, it was the deer-print jacket she wore that prompted me to save the image and share it with my friends on WhatsApp. Prints in fashion aren't exactly revolutionary. Leopard print has shed its Kat Slater associations and has become one of the season's chicest designs, while zebra print continues to give our winter outfits an exotic flair and a cool-girl visual interest. However, the subtle emergence of the deer-print trend for winter 2025 feels refreshingly original compared to the usual array of animal prints.

While it may seem like this playful, Bambi-inspired print suddenly appeared in the winter wardrobes of fashion enthusiasts, that's not the case. As is common with emerging trends, the runways were leading the charge well before the mainstream. It made its first appearance in Tory Burch's autumn/winter 2025 collection as a structured jacket, signaling that deer print is here to rejuvenate our typical neutral color palette. Yes, tan jackets are popular, but with uneven white spots? How charming! Since then, the popularity of this print has soared. First, there was Sofia in her luxurious SRG Atelier coat, which quickly sold out. Next came the eagerly awaited Gap x Sandy Laing collaboration, and our social media editor, Megan Storey, tried on the faux-fur deer-print jacket, confirming its excellent look. Now, ASOS and Puma are joining in, set to release a limited-edition Speedcat and Speedcat Ballet Flat in earthy browns and soft beige hues on 4 December.

Personally, I am completely smitten with it. Perhaps it's because it feels like a natural evolution from the cheerful polka dots that were everywhere this summer, or maybe it's simply that the typical animal patterns have become a bit too common for my taste. Whatever the reason, one thing is clear: deer print has made its entrance, and it's poised to revitalize the pattern world.

If you're worried about styling this print, don’t be. Deer print complements neutrals beautifully, working like leopard or zebra prints, but it offers a softer and more approachable pattern to experiment with. It provides a gentle pop of visual interest while crafting looks that feel undeniably sophisticated and refreshingly unique. So whether you're ready to embrace this emerging trend early or just want to see what it’s about, scroll on to check out my selection of deer-print pieces.
