London fashion enthusiasts who enjoy sporting prints are now exploring this trendy alternative.
A few weeks ago, during my regular evening scroll, I stumbled upon an image of Sofia Richie Grainge that made me pause. It wasn’t her announcement of a second pregnancy or the launch of her brand SRG Atelier that intrigued me; rather, it was the deer-print jacket she wore that prompted me to save the picture and share it in my WhatsApp group.
While prints in fashion are not novel, with leopard print having transitioned from its Kat Slater associations to become a stylish staple this season, and zebra print adding a distinct exotic flair to our winter outfits, the emergence of the deer-print trend for winter 2025 feels refreshingly unique among the typical animal prints.
Though this whimsical, Bambi-inspired design seems to have just arrived in the fashion scene, the reality is quite different. As with many trends, the runways were ahead of the mainstream. Making its first appearance in Tory Burch's autumn/winter 2025 collection as a structured jacket, it clearly communicated that deer print is here to rejuvenate our standard neutral color schemes. Sure, we appreciate a tan jacket, but how about one with irregular white spots? Adorable!
Since then, the popularity of this print has surged. Initially, Sofia sported her luxurious SRG Atelier coat, which quickly sold out. Then came the eagerly awaited Gap x Sandy Laing collaboration, where our social media editor, Megan Storey, tried on the faux-fur deer-print jacket, confirming its appeal. Now, ASOS and Puma are also jumping in, set to unveil a limited-edition Speedcat and Speedcat Ballet Flat featuring the print's earthy browns and soft beige shades on December 4th.
Personally, I’m completely smitten with it. Perhaps it’s because it feels like a natural evolution from the playful polka dots that were so popular this summer, or maybe it’s just that I find the usual animal patterns a bit overplayed. Whatever the reason, one thing is clear: deer print has made its entrance, and it’s primed to disrupt the pattern landscape.
If you're concerned about how to style this print, fear not. Deer print pairs well with neutrals, much like leopard or zebra prints, and is, in fact, a softer, more approachable pattern. It introduces a subtle touch of visual interest while allowing for outfits that feel undeniably polished and a bit more modern. So, whether you’re eager to embrace this growing trend early or just curious about what it entails, scroll on for my curated selection of deer-print pieces.
