Originally from Boston, you’d think I would be accustomed to the cold from an early age, but it's actually been quite the opposite. Winter is the season I dread the most, and staying warm requires deliberate effort. For years, whenever I asked friends how they manage to keep warm during winter, their immediate response was typically some variation of “Uniqlo Heattech.” Tired of lamenting about the cold when it’s unavoidable, I’ve decided to finally take their advice and stock up on items from both the Uniqlo Heattech and Pufftech collections.

      I began by trying the Pufftech Jacket, Pufftech Relaxed Long Coat, Heattech Extra Warm Cashmere Blend Scoop-Neck T-Shirt, Heattech Ultra Warm Leggings, and Heattech Scarf. Keep scrolling to shop the items I acquired for the upcoming winter in NYC.

      For context, Heattech has three levels: standard, for temperatures between 41–68°F; Ultra Warm, for -4–50°F; and Extra Warm Cashmere Blend, for 23–59°F. As described on the website, it features “innovative thermal clothing technology for warmth without the bulk," efficiently wicking moisture away and converting it into heat. If I had to select just one piece from the collection, I would suggest choosing something from the Extra Warm Cashmere Blend range, though I also plan to get a few Ultra Warm options as well.

      Last winter, my commitment to actually bundling up began with purchasing insulated boots and a wool coat. However, I still found the coat didn’t provide quite enough warmth. Recently, I stumbled upon a TikTok showing how fashion enthusiasts stay warm in wool coats, and once again, Uniqlo was mentioned. The trick is to layer a Pufftech jacket underneath. It's thin and lightweight, which prevents adding bulk, but significantly enhances warmth.
