As someone born in Sydney and currently residing in London, I have a personal standard for British fashion that I often refer to; this includes Kate Moss sporting her Hunter Wellington boots at Glastonbury, Sienna Miller donning high-street coats, and the caped jackets Claudia Winkleman selects on The Traitors. However, at the 2025 Fashion Awards this evening, the ever-stylish British It girl Alexa Chung appeared in a shoe style I had previously only observed on the city’s more refined dressers, highlighting that regardless of your fashion approach, this silhouette is definitely noteworthy.

As a fashion writer, it’s not just my passion but also my profession to document the latest trends from the celebrity style scene. So when I spotted the former model arriving on the pink carpet outside the Royal Albert Hall, I was quite surprised to see her forgo her usual denim jeans and white shirts in favor of a more bohemian (and wind-resistant) dress from Chloé.

This dress, introduced in the French maison’s latest spring/summer 2026 collection during Paris Fashion Week, featured a canary yellow knee-length design made from a practical and weather-resistant fabric. It showcased a sleek funnel neck, an elongated drop waist, and a peplum-like hem. Rather than fully embracing the bohemian associations of this luxurious piece, she opted for a more sophisticated look with croc-print heels that both fashion icons and royalty have been seen in repeatedly. Her choice was a pair of travertine-toned pumps from the luxury footwear brand Christen, a contemporary label founded by Chilean Swiss designer Nina Christen. Earlier this week, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, was spotted near Angel wearing a grey pair of these heels. She also surprised many by breaking traditional protocol by pairing her Hugo Boss embossed pumps with a brown suede DeMellier Hudson bag.

A few weeks ago, Victoria Beckham attended her husband David’s knighthood ceremony at Windsor Castle in a black pair of croc-effect heels. They say it takes three to establish a trend—and I'm declaring it here first. Given that Posh Spice wore her pair in the same vicinity as the former Duchess of Cambridge and Chung's appearance is just a stone's throw from Kensington Palace, it seems fitting that these three style icons have all embraced this shoe trend.

In fact, I've had my eye on a pre-loved pair of powder pink croc-effect heeled ballet pumps from the Parisian brand Maryam Nassir Zadeh, which have been sitting in my Vinted cart for a few weeks. If this isn't enough to persuade me to join in and invest, I don't know what will be. A little regal, quite refined, and unexpectedly charming are exactly the qualities I can support. Below are the best croc heels I’ve found, so you can also step out in style like this trio.
