      My collection of heels has been receiving a bit more attention than usual, and—rather unfortunately for me—this has resulted in several of my reliable pairs looking noticeably less pristine. With a valid reason to expand my collection by one or two new pairs, I’ve been on the lookout for heel trends that excite me without feeling repetitive. Fortunately, inspiration arrived just in time. This week, Gwyneth Paltrow graced the red carpet in a heel trend that hadn’t crossed my mind—and I'm still not sure why. In one appearance, she convinced me of its elegance and made me realize exactly what my wardrobe has been missing: a pair of rich navy heels.

      At an event in L.A., she styled her royal blue heels with a light grey trouser ensemble, creating a polished look that didn’t feel overly complicated. While black would have darkened the soft grey and added heaviness, Gwyneth’s navy heels offered depth without stifling the overall aesthetic.

      Navy dresses have become quite popular this season, yet navy heels have been slower to gain traction. I'm not entirely certain why that is. They are less expected than typical black shoes while still being easy to pair, and this deep shade brings a subtle richness to any outfit. It pairs beautifully with the darker colors we tend to wear in winter and complements lighter shades such as powder blue, oat, and cream. Ideal for my wardrobe's little black dresses, grey co-ords, and dependable denim, navy heels have climbed to the top of my wishlist.
