Welcome to Beauty's Night Out, a series focused on essential beauty discussions that are shaping the nightlife experience. Look forward to an exclusive preview of the newest trends, behind-the-scenes tutorials, and plenty of going-out inspiration as you prepare. Just grab your favorite playlist! This time, we’re taking a closer look at a night out with Coco Gauff, the world No. 2 tennis champion and Miu Miu Beauty's U.S. ambassador for Miutine Eau de Parfum.
When Frank Ocean plays, nothing can dampen Coco Gauff's mood—not even thirst or the scrutiny of over 2 million people on Instagram Live. I can almost hear her beaming as she shares the story of winning the 2025 French Open last June, which led to some celebratory toasts and her first experience with Paris nightlife. "I didn’t hydrate much after the match. It was nearly a three-hour match, and obviously, when you win, everyone is trying to give you champagne... and I didn’t say no!" she says with a chuckle. Who could really blame her? After all, victory champagne must taste pretty sweet.
"My friends were there—the ones who were in Paris—and my team was with me, and I just had an amazing time," she adds. "I remember they played Frank Ocean at the bar, and I’m a huge fan. He was my second most-listened-to artist this year. I went Live when that track came on—everyone was worried that I was streaming. I told them, 'Bro, I just want to chill to Frank Ocean and share it with everyone.' I might have sounded awful, but that’s alright." You don’t really need to hit perfect notes when you’re smashing overheads and serving at 128 miles per hour.
Winning the French Open was undoubtedly a remarkable accomplishment, paired with an equally memorable night out, which Gauff admits isn't the typical way she celebrates post-match. "Tennis players don’t often get to go out," she observes. On a regular night—well, as regular as being the world No. 2 allows—she often relaxes with her favorite show (Stranger Things, which she mentioned she’s almost done with season four) and orders room service at her hotel if her matches run late. "If I play early, I try to have dinner with my parents. Something low-key, because when you’re still in the tournament, your focus is mainly on the finish," she explains.
However, when she does go out, she is thoroughly prepared. "When I go out, I feel the need to have everything ready—not just for me, but for everyone else," she shares. Gauff is the dependable friend who always carries a phone charger, tampons, a mini perfume (Miutine, of course), gum, or sanitizing wipes ("Because, you know, sometimes the tables can be a bit unclean, and you have to wipe them down"). I can easily envision her distributing these essentials to her group with a charming, Mary Poppins-like efficiency—just swap that never-ending carpet bag for Miu Miu's Wander Matelassé. "It's the ideal size for going out," Gauff says of the luxurious nappa leather favorite. "I’m not one for large purses, but you still need enough space for all your little items."
In addition to these practical communal items, those "little things" also include some beauty must-haves of her own. Below, find out the hair, makeup, and fragrance essentials Gauff counts on for a night out that deserves to be shared Live.
You’ll always find a travel-sized fragrance in Gauff's shoulder bag—specifically, Miu Miu's Miutine, for which she serves as a U.S. ambassador alongside Paloma Elsesser and Chloë Sevigny. "Some people will spray where they're meant to. I prefer to apply it generously," she reveals. For her, overapplication is never an issue: "When I can no longer smell it, that signifies it's time to reapply," she adds.
As a visual learner, Gauff doesn’t think of fragrances in terms of "day" or "night" but instead pairs them with specific outfits (think a spicy floral with wide-leg trousers or a delectable gourmand with a lavish velvet coat). "If I'm in the same outfit all day, I’ll stick with the same fragrance, but if I’m changing outfits, I may switch it up," she explains. "Or if both outfits have the same vibe—one for the day and one for evening—I’ll keep the same fragrance." Miutine, she believes, works for both casual and dressy looks—though she will always wear it with a skirt. "Skirts really embody Miu Miu," she says. "Whenever I wear a skirt, Miutine is a must. Or if I’m in kitten
