I’m in my 40s and my daughters are in their 20s—together, we’ve concluded that these 17 beauty products are top-notch.
Tennille Jenkins serves as an Editor in Residence at Who What Wear and is a beauty, wellness, and fashion expert based in Los Angeles who aims to empower women at every life stage. As a mother of two daughters (Xia, 23, and May, 29), I've been involved in taking care of their skin and hair for years. However, it wasn’t until about eight years ago that we truly began bonding over and enjoying a variety of beauty products together. For instance, my younger daughter, Xia, was never keen on makeup until she spent some time in South Korea; upon her return, she developed a whole new appreciation for it.
Beauty is not one-size-fits-all, and although we had a blast experimenting with various hair, skincare, body, and makeup products, it took us time to discover what genuinely worked for our unique needs and concerns. Unsurprisingly, not everything that works for me will work for them and vice versa. Over the years, we've refined our choices, playfully referring to our home as our own little testing laboratory. Thus, when we present the following products as a shared list of favorites, we mean they appeal to someone in their early 20s, late 20s, and someone in their late 40s. In a market where many products seem targeted at specific age groups—whether younger or older—it's wonderful that these essentials resonate with all of us, making them indispensable in our lives. Keep scrolling for our favorites!
**Caudalíe Vinoperfect Brightening Dark Spot Serum**
The first pick we unanimously decided on is Caudalíe's cherished Vinoperfect Serum. It has been my go-to since 2020, and now my daughters adore it as well. There's genuine concern when we notice our supply dwindling!
**Live Tinted Hueguard Skin Tint SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum**
We all fell in love with this tinted SPF from Live Tinted this year. While on vacation in Italy, this was our go-to product. The brand excelled in formulation, shade variety, coverage, and luminosity, perfectly hitting all our needs for a premium SPF. It’s definitely a favorite.
**Summer Fridays Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum**
This eye product is seriously underrated. I first learned about it through a campaign, and both of my daughters teased me about my enthusiasm. Once they tried it, they quickly understood my excitement. It's great on its own and excellent under makeup.
**Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo**
This is an outstanding product. All three of us typically wash our hair about once a week, and this shampoo effectively clears away built-up sweat and residue, keeping our scalps clean. May, who experiences occasional irritation and flaking, has greatly benefited from it over the years.
**Briogeo Style + Treat Yuzu + Plum Oil Hair Styling Sleek Stick**
We also love this Sleek Stick from Briogeo. The only downside is it’s small and runs out quickly since all three of us use it. Its versatility is amazing. When my hair is down, it smooths the little curls in front beautifully. It’s also perfect for slick backs or taming flyaways and is compact enough to carry to the gym or anywhere else.
**Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil**
Another must-have! Hair oils can be hit or miss, but the Oribe formula has become our gold standard. It complements our hair textures and provides heat protection—this product is fantastic.
**Dyson Supersonic Origin Hair Dryer**
This hair dryer is essential for us. The Dyson travels everywhere with us, and even when we know hotel dryers are available, we still bring our own. I’ve been using mine since 2019 or 2020, and when Xia went to college, I realized I would need to buy another since my daughters were borrowing it. None of us can imagine being without it, which is why each of us now owns a Dyson hair dryer.
**Jo Malone London Peony & Blush Suede Cologne & Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne Set**
Jo Malone’s Wood Sage & Sea Salt scent is a staple in our home, and we also adore the Peony & Blush Suede. We enjoy layering them for a clean and beautiful fragrance. The brand often offers them as a set during the holidays, which is how we started layering them.
**CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Cream**
This has become a household favorite. After working with CeraVe on a campaign, they recently sent this cream my way, and I told my daughters they wouldn't believe how great it is! Xia has used CeraVe for her eczema, but I hadn't used it for quite some time. Considering the price, the ingredients, and the deep hydration it provides, this is truly the best body cream I've ever
