This Winter Coat Trend Will Be Featured at Holiday Parties in West London and the UES

      For those living in colder regions, dressing for holiday parties can be quite challenging this time of year. You may don a cocktail dress or a lovely skirt, only to have it covered by your warmest, bulkiest coat. It often feels like the main outfit is less significant than the outer layer, especially if you're moving between multiple parties in one night without removing your coat. While classic wool coats and trendy furry options remain popular for winter, I've observed that some of the most stylish individuals in fashionable areas like New York's Upper East Side and West London are embracing a coat trend that is much more suitable for evening wear and refined: the satin coat. Although satin outerwear isn't an entirely new trend—having surfaced in the fall/winter 2023 collections at Altuzarra and 16Arlington—designers have revitalized the luxurious and sophisticated satin evening coat for fall 2025. At Dries Van Noten, they appeared in flowing, loose silhouettes, adorned in rich jewel tones, while at Toteme, the pieces were collarless, tonal, and minimalist. With the holiday party season upon us, I've already spotted numerous celebrities and style icons embracing this elegant outerwear trend, particularly in chic neighborhoods like New York's Upper East Side and London's affluent west side, known for its refined taste.
