Apologies, Beanies—This Hat Trend Endorsed by J.Lo Is Dominating the Remaining Season.
I appreciate beanies like anyone else, but they often make my winter outfits feel too casual. I believe in wearing whatever keeps you warm, yet I’m tired of the heavy layers that winter brings, and adding a beanie seems counterproductive if I want to maintain a chic look for the rest of the season. I've been searching for accessories that provide warmth while enhancing my style, and Jennifer Lopez’s recent outfit during filming in New Jersey inspired me. J.Lo stayed cozy yet fashionable by sporting an unconventional and somewhat retro winter hat trend alongside her luxurious brown wool coat, knitted chocolate brown turtleneck, and black knee-high block-heeled boots: a newsboy cap. This accessory was a hit among the “hipster” crowd in the early 2000s. The TV series Peaky Blinders revived the newsboy cap in fashion discussions starting in 2013, but this kind of hat has actually existed since the late 19th century. Now, J.Lo is reintroducing it in a stylish, modern way for 2026. The inclusion of the newsboy cap, though a slightly debated fashion choice to return, makes her outfit look far more elegant than a beanie could. I’m all for trying something new (or rather, old) to accessorize my winter wardrobe for the remaining weeks of the season. If you prefer the newsboy trend over beanies to pair with coats and boots, keep reading to recreate Lopez’s look and explore similar options.
