Welcome to Fashion's Finest Stays, a travel series where we provide our fashion-editor perspective on the world of hospitality. Here, you'll receive exclusive insider insights into some of the most celebrated hotels and resorts worldwide, revealing all the details you might want to know before making a reservation.

When I started planning my trip to Mallorca, Spain, last summer, every fashion-industry friend I spoke to had the same question: Are you staying at Hotel Corazón? It wasn't about if I would stay there, but rather when. After covering it for Who What Wear's travel guide to the Balearic island last year, the hotel quickly climbed to the top of my priority list. Fortunately for me, I found two nights available close to my travel dates. I secured them faster than any purchase I’ve ever made on The RealReal (and that says a lot) and adjusted my plans to accommodate. When your trendiest friends and fashion-industry colleagues declare it their favorite hotel, you can’t help but follow suit.

Rewind to last July: I was driving my rental car along the winding roads of the Tramuntana mountains on the northern side of the island, with the windows down and sunlight streaming in. The hotel is perched at the canyon's summit, hidden behind a wrought iron gate so understated that I had to circle back to find it. This set the tone for the entire Corazón experience—I felt less like I was checking into a hotel and more like I was being welcomed into a friend's expansive family home.

Nestled high in the Tramuntana mountains, the hotel is located between the towns of Deià and Sóller, just a quick five-minute drive through the canyon to the nearest cala. However, with so many cozy corners by the pool and garden, there’s little reason to leave. Opened in 2023 by British fashion photographer Kate Bellm and her partner, Spanish artist Edgar Lopez, Hotel Corazón is a genuine creative endeavor, characterized by history and curated artwork adorning every wall. It’s no surprise that many guests come from the upper echelons of the fashion, art, and entertainment industries. The hotel avoids conventional marketing, and its reputation thrives purely on word of mouth—if you know, you know.

Speaking of history, the building itself is an exquisitely restored 18th-century finca showcasing a variety of multi-bedroom suites and communal areas that feel more like a living room than a lobby. With only 15 suites available, reservations can be tough to secure (summer dates usually sell out by March), but this adds to its intimate atmosphere.

At Corazón, the terrace is the heart of the hotel. This expansive terracotta area serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks at sunset, so unless you opt to dine by the pool, you’ll be enjoying the terrace throughout the day. Tip: Claim a spot in one of the cushioned clusters at the edge for the most stunning view of the sunset over the canyon—it’s simply magical.

Farm-to-table dining is not just a trend here; it’s a lifestyle. The farm is mere steps from the kitchen and is a primary source of fresh produce for the menu. Each dish, including the beautifully arranged fruit plate I enjoyed at breakfast, reflects the hotel's focus on design. And don’t get me started on the wine list—I'm still reminiscing about a particular bottle of orange wine months later.

Every area is thoughtfully curated with an artist's touch, from the design choices to the art books lining the shelves. In the living room, works by avant-garde filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky sit alongside comics from the French publisher Humanoids. Art pieces are scattered throughout the hotel, featuring images from Bellm's personal photography collection. This creates a space that is crafted by artists for artists.

Let’s be honest—the pool is the highlight. The signature straw umbrellas and vibrant orange loungers are perfect for Instagram, but I can confidently say the experience is just as delightful as it appears. It’s a place where time feels like it both stands still and rushes by. I had several days that began with a poolside iced coffee and extended through lunch and happy hour. Any meal, drink, or snack can (and should) be ordered directly to your lounger.

I’d characterize the clientele as "down-to-earth and bohemian yet incredibly stylish." When I arrived, I noticed guests sporting aviator sunglasses and colorful printed sarongs, and my own Mallorcan outfits consisted of laid-back, airy pieces combined with expressive styling through beaded necklaces, acetate bangles, and mesh bags.
