Welcome to Fashion's Finest Stays, a travel series where we share our fashion-editor perspective on the hospitality industry. Here, we provide you with exclusive insider insights into the world’s most famous hotels and resorts, revealing every detail you’d want to consider before making a reservation.

When I started planning my trip to Mallorca, Spain, last summer, every fashion-industry friend I mentioned it to asked the same question: Are you staying at Hotel Corazón? It wasn’t a matter of if I would secure a booking there, but rather when. After covering it for Who What Wear's travel guide to the Balearic island last year, the hotel quickly moved to the top of my wish list, and fortunately, I found two nights magically available near my travel dates. I grabbed them faster than any purchase I’ve ever made on The RealReal (which is saying a lot) and adjusted my itinerary to make it work. When all your most fashionable friends and industry colleagues claim it's their favorite hotel, you have to take their advice.

Rewind to last July, I was driving my rental car through the winding roads of the Tramuntana mountains on the island's north side, with the windows down and sunshine filtering in. The hotel sits atop a canyon, hidden behind a wrought iron gate so unassuming that I had to double back to find it. That set the tone for the rest of my experience at Corazón: it felt less like checking into a hotel and more like receiving an invitation to a close friend’s expansive family estate.

Perched high in the Tramuntana mountains, the hotel is located between the towns of Deià and Sóller, just a quick five-minute drive down through the canyon to the nearest beach—although with the inviting nooks surrounding the pool deck and garden, there's little reason to leave. Opened in 2023 by British fashion photographer Kate Bellm and her partner, Spanish artist Edgar Lopez, Hotel Corazón is a genuine creative endeavor, filled with history and carefully selected artwork adorning the walls. It’s no surprise that many high-profile guests from the fashion, art, and entertainment sectors frequent this hotel. With its avoidance of traditional advertising, the ambiance is strongly rooted in word-of-mouth. If you know, you know.

The building itself is housed in a beautifully restored 18th-century finca featuring various multi-bedroom suites and communal areas that feel more like a cozy living room than a lobby. Comprising only 15 suites, it can be difficult to secure a reservation (with summer dates typically selling out by March), but this adds to its intimate atmosphere.

At Corazón, all paths lead to the terrace. The expansive terracotta area serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sunset cocktails, meaning unless you opt for a meal by the pool, you'll find yourself enjoying the space at different times of day. Pro tip: Grab a seat on one of the cushioned lounges at the far end for the best sunset views over the canyon. It’s truly magical.

Farm-to-table isn’t just a trendy phrase here; it’s a lifestyle. The farm is just steps away from the kitchen and serves as a primary source for fresh produce featured on the menu. Every dish, including the vibrant fruit plate I enjoyed at breakfast, arrives beautifully presented, reflecting the hotel’s design-centric ethos. I still can’t stop reminiscing about an exceptional bottle of orange wine I had during my stay.

Each area is curated with an artistic vision, from the interior design to the art books that occupy the shelves. In the living room, works from avant-garde filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky sit alongside comics from the French publisher Humanoids. Art pieces are scattered throughout the hotel, including images from Bellm's personal photography collection—creating a space that’s made by artists for artists.

Let’s be honest—the pool is the main attraction. The signature straw umbrellas and vibrant orange loungers are perfect for Instagram, but I can assure you that the experience is just as delightful as it appears. It’s a place where time seems both suspended and fleeting. Many of my days began with an iced coffee by the pool and flowed through lunch and onto happy hour. Any meal, drink, or snack can (and should) be delivered right to your lounger.

The clientele can be described as “down-to-earth and bohemian yet incredibly stylish.” Aviator sunglasses and colorful printed sarongs were among the first fashion choices I noticed upon arrival, and my own Mallorca wardrobe featured relaxed, airy items spiced up with personality through beaded necklaces, acetate bangles, and mesh bags.
