      I was browsing TikTok when a video appeared on my For You page: “If you love Paloma Wool, you’ll love…” As I continued watching, I discovered Permanent Vacation, a rising Australian brand based in Melbourne, founded by Claire Louise Smith. It quickly became a favorite of mine for its “artful minimalism.” With a new collection launching today, I recently visited the showroom for a preview. When I inquired with the PR team about how they would characterize Permanent Vacation, they described it as “performance-inspired” and “Prada Sport," which seemed accurate. Like many fashion enthusiasts, I've spent considerable time on reseller sites searching for “Prada Sport,” so I understood why I was drawn to this brand.

      There’s a similar vibe: minimalist and subtle; a signature '90s minimalism with a slightly quirky twist. The pieces are streamlined yet technical, crafted from a limited color palette with materials sourced from Japan. Each item features something unique while remaining easy to wear and timeless. The latest capsule, Slow Dance, is described as “a series of garments built around tension and release,” continuing the brand's foundational and focused design approach.

      My favorites include the coordinating recycled nylon Refract Singlet and Refract Skirt sets available in Slate, Tangerine, and Lilac, as well as the Orbit Dress and Debut Skirt. It's also worth mentioning that the line follows a project-based model instead of a conventional seasonal schedule, releasing curated edits in limited quantities and producing only to meet demand, ensuring each project is available until sold out.
