I persuaded three of my colleagues to purchase this jelly moisturizer before 10 A.M.—it's really that impressive.
If you find yourself in beauty discussions, there's a 99% likelihood that Sofie Pavitt will be mentioned. Known as NYC's "acne whisperer," the aesthetician is an authority on breakout-prone skin, having improved the complexions of numerous individuals, including celebrities and many beauty editors, from her studio in downtown. (I was practically pleading to get an appointment with her right before my wedding, which speaks volumes about her skin-clearing expertise.) Both she and her namesake brand frequently come up in conversations at the Who What Wear office, particularly due to her renowned Mandelic Clearing Serum. Almost all of my colleagues have asked if it lives up to the hype, and I confidently answer: Yes, it absolutely does. Lately, I've been getting a barrage of inquiries about another soon-to-be-released Sofie Pavitt Face product—one I can’t stop raving about since I received an early sample months ago. "Is it good?" one editor inquired as soon as I settled at my desk. "Should I buy it?" another chimed in. My reply? "Guys, it might be my favorite product from the entire line." Soon after, several team members declared their intent to purchase it, even before I had my first cup of coffee. I recommend you do the same before it sells out. Trust me—this one’s a gem.
Introducing Pavitt's Skin Jelly Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer, a lightweight hydrator that has a bouncy, gel-like texture. As its name indicates, there's no oil in the formula—making it a perfect addition to your routine as summer approaches—and, as an extra perk, it helps to regulate oil production due to the inclusion of zinc and copper PCA. However, if your skin is on the drier side, there's no need to worry; this moisturizer is also enriched with beta-glucan and panthenol to hydrate and calm the skin, along with allantoin and centella asiatica to alleviate redness and inflammation.
I have combination skin that is prone to breakouts and slightly sensitive (a delightful combination, I know), so this formula is genuinely ideal for addressing all my needs. Plus, it performs exceptionally well under makeup. In my view, its jelly texture behaves somewhat like a primer, adhering beautifully to foundation and concealer without any pilling at all. While it doesn’t provide a glowy finish, which some may seek in moisturizers, that doesn't mean it's lacking in hydration. Unlike many traditional mattifying moisturizers that often feel tacky, this one spreads effortlessly, and I can truly feel its soothing and plumping effects with each application. My skin remains well-hydrated but not oily—a challenging balance to achieve. It’s a clear departure from the brand's Omega Rich Moisturizer, which is denser with a dewy finish. Both products are non-comedogenic (which you’d expect from the acne whisperer), but the jelly moisturizer is better suited for those preferring a lighter texture. As Pavitt mentioned in a brand presentation, this is a "moisturizer for people who dislike moisturizers."
If your skin is extremely oily, Pavitt suggests using her Screentime SPF 30 as your main moisturizer (as it's wonderfully creamy and hydrating), and applying Skin Jelly at night. However, using both during the day hasn't caused any issues for my combination, breakout-prone skin. For the past two months, I've been using Skin Jelly every morning after the Mandelic Clearing Serum—a product I continually repurchase despite having access to nearly every beauty item available. I can already tell that this Skin Jelly moisturizer will join that list, and even though I feel a desire to keep its magic secret, I won't stop until every beauty enthusiast I know has had a chance to try it out for themselves.
