Kendall Jenner discusses perfume layering, the connection between scents and memories, and her everyday choice of designer fragrance.
Would you prefer to wear just one perfume for the entirety of your life, or never repeat the same fragrance again? Kendall Jenner leans towards the second option. “Different scents for sure. I enjoy having choices based on what I’m doing or how I’m feeling,” she states. I tend to agree with her perspective. While it can be stylish to be recognized for a signature scent (think Marilyn Monroe or CBK), there are simply too many beautiful fragrances to restrict yourself to only one. This is why I regularly change my go-to fragrance with the seasons—and this spring, Tory Burch's Sublime Eau de Toilette has become a must-have on my vanity. I believe Jenner would concur (she is the face of the campaign, after all), as she admires its light, airy dry-down that “smells like a better version of you.”
If you're acquainted with Tory Burch's original Sublime Eau de Parfum, you already know it combines a cool-girl essence of leather with an unexpected floral freshness. (I often say it gives off a quiet-luxury "cashmere cowgirl" vibe.) The Eau de Toilette version preserves that leathery foundation but uplifts it with clementine and smooths it out with iris and amber woods. The original Sublime possesses a rustic flair that makes a stronger impression, while the Eau de Toilette embodies a subtle confidence that's ideal for everyday wear. “[It] can provide a different feeling depending on how much you apply,” Jenner mentions, noting that she prefers a “pretty low-maintenance” approach to application. “I typically apply it to my wrists, neck, and sometimes behind my ears if I'm going out. However, I've found great enjoyment in experimenting with layering since Sublime blends really well.” You could easily add a smokier, amber-heavy fragrance before heading out at night to enhance its sensual base, or as Jenner suggests, simply apply another spritz or two of Sublime to boost its intensity.
You might also layer Sublime with its complimentary body oil, a method many experts advocate for optimal longevity. (This not only doubles the fragrance but also hydrates your skin, helping it hold onto the scent better.) Launching today, the formula enriched with sunflower and jojoba features the same Sublime aroma with a radiant, shimmering finish—ideal for a memorable warm spring or summer evening. “I do believe certain scents can evoke memories from different times in your life,” Jenner shares regarding scent associations. Although she doesn’t specifically timestamp her own fragrances ("I think some scents are more connected to people in my life than to specific moments," she adds), I can only presume that Sublime captures her ideal spring essence: fresh, luminous, and effortlessly elegant.
