The Young Cinema Festival "New Movement" announces updates in the team and presents a new visual concept.

      The third festival of young cinema "New Movement," which will take place from May 28 to June 1, 2026, in Veliky Novgorod, continues to evolve, presenting an updated team and a new visual concept.

      As a festival focused on a new generation of authors and relevant artistic processes, "New Movement" naturally expands its team by attracting specialists with diverse professional experiences and perspectives on contemporary cinema.

      This year, the festival's program director is Trifon Bebutov — a journalist, media manager, documentary filmmaker, founder and general producer of the media DREAMCAST, former editor-in-chief of the magazine "Rules of Life," and current editorial director of "Afisha Daily."

I am convinced that 'New Movement' today is not just a festival, but a gathering point for new names, new voices, and new meanings that will define the future of cinema — for both audiences and the industry," notes Trifon Bebutov.

      Hanna Mironenko, a film scholar, producer, and expert on international festivals, has been appointed curator of the Author's Cinema Market. A graduate of VGIK (Kyrill Razlogov's workshop) and Jagiellonian University, she has been promoting films to festivals for over 15 years and has collaborated with events such as the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Camerimage, Helsinki DocPoint, and the Moscow International Film Festival. She has served as a guest expert in the business programs of IFF Rotterdam, Tampere FF, Go Short, and others. Hanna Mironenko is a co-founder of Eastwood Agency.

      This year, the festival also presents a new visual concept developed by artist and designer Konstantin Chirkov. At its core is the image of an arrow as a symbol of movement, development, and support. The dynamic composition of arrows forms the visual language of the festival, reflecting its idea as a space for growth and exploration. Complementing the concept is the image of a person rising into the air with the help of balloons — a metaphor for a creator whose ideas gain strength and embodiment in synergy with the festival.

      Konstantin Chirkov: "I decided to completely redesign the festival's identity, but not to seek complex metaphors. The image of the arrow became the symbol of movement for me, and then I assembled a composition of several arrows. This dynamic graphic element became the basis of the festival's key image — a symbol of movement, development, and support.

      Later, the image of a person flying on balloons appeared: this is the creator, and the balloons represent their ideas, which are not always enough to unlock creative potential. Therefore, the symbiosis of arrows (the festival's image) and the creative personality helps bring a work of cinematic art to light."

      Maxim Korolev (general producer of the Festival): "'New Movement' is a young festival that develops alongside the industry and young authors. It is important for us that it reflects this movement — openness to the new, readiness for experimentation and dialogue. The new team members are a natural continuation of the logic in which the festival was conceived and is developing today."

      Artem Mikhalkov (general producer of the Festival): "The third festival is no longer a start, but a movement forward. Our showcase was conceived as a space for young authors, and today it is beginning to gain its own scale and voice. 'New Movement' is becoming an important point for the industry and a place to which people return — for us, this is a sign that the chosen direction works and can continue to develop. We are making every effort to ensure that the festival continues to grow while maintaining its openness to the new and attention to authors."

      The "New Movement" festival first took place in Veliky Novgorod in 2024 and has already established itself as an important platform for young filmmakers, uniting new names, ideas, and the professional community.

      As part of the festival in 2026, the Author's Cinema Market will take place for the second time, where young directors and producers will present their projects to distributors, platforms, festival selectors, and potential partners.

      The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the government of the Novgorod region.
