      Outdoor Voices is making a comeback, or more specifically, Ty Haney is returning. The founder who started the beloved activewear brand in her early twenties—and stepped down in 2020 due to allegations of mismanagement and overspending—has officially made her return. At the end of July, Haney shared an emotional reel on Instagram featuring OV, simply captioned: “We’re back baby.” Within hours, the post garnered nearly 22,000 likes and excited comments from fans claiming it’s “safe to shop again.”

      If you experienced the peak Doing Things era, it's a memory you likely cherish. Haney founded Outdoor Voices at the age of 23, right after graduating from Parsons, with a groundbreaking vision that merged athletic wear with lifestyle appeal. By the late 2010s, her minimalist color-blocked leggings, sporty-casual styles, and memorable tagline turned the brand into a street style icon. Whether displayed on leggings or printed on canvas totes carried from Los Angeles to New York City, OV was ubiquitous—until it wasn't.

      Haney's exit in 2020 happened alongside a wider industry slump. By March 2024, the brand had closed all retail stores and fully transitioned to e-commerce, now under a larger parent company. Devoted fans observed as the brand lost its energy—less vibrancy, diminished innovation, and an identity crisis that no “core basics” collection could resolve. However, when Haney began to tease her return, excitement reignited. A preview of the new collection was enough to send chats buzzing.

      Now, the wait is finally over. Haney’s comeback collection has officially launched, and while some beloved styles are being refreshed, the new Outdoor Voices is clearly aiming for greater heights. According to Haney, it’s “more fashion-forward,” while also incorporating natural materials alongside the brand's signature technical fabrics. The collection pays homage to the OV of the past but with a more trend-conscious perspective: script-font logos replace the classic block lettering; cardigans replace fleece zip-ups; and pleated skorts bring a tennis-club-meets-Y2K aesthetic to the traditional warm-up skort.

      It may not be the color restock that fans wished for, but that’s not the goal. It’s OV, redefined. Among the highlights are a Missoni-inspired bra-and-short set that boldly stands out, and the refined Energy Dress (Haney’s personal favorite), which is perfect for both a city jaunt or a Pilates class.
