For Renee Montgomery, basketball has always been her ultimate goal. At the age of five, she confidently expressed to her father her desire to play college basketball. After years of dedication and competition, she fulfilled her dream by securing a spot at the University of Connecticut, one of the country's top programs.

Her professional milestone came in 2009 when she was chosen as the 4th overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx. Montgomery enjoyed a remarkable 11-year career in the WNBA, representing various teams throughout the league. In 2020, she made a significant personal and professional decision—she chose to opt out of the season to devote her efforts to activism and social justice causes. She then played one final season in 2021 with the Atlanta Dream before announcing her retirement from the WNBA.

Instead of stepping away from the sport, Montgomery swiftly moved into a new position after her retirement. She became part-owner and vice president of the Atlanta Dream. This achievement was groundbreaking, as she became the first former WNBA player to hold both ownership and executive roles within a team in the league.

Today, Montgomery remains highly engaged with the Atlanta Dream, actively striving to elevate the franchise. Alongside her executive duties, she pursues her entrepreneurial passion through two successful projects: her clothing line, C-Suite 21, and her media production company, Think Tank Productions.

Tune in to the latest episode of Second Life to discover how Montgomery is continuing to advance the WNBA beyond the court.
