5 Spring Trends This Stylish Parisian Mom Adopts from Her Daughters

      Located in Paris, Elisabeth Bento is an editor in residence at Who What Wear, boasting over thirty years of experience in the fashion industry, which includes modeling, editorial work, brand direction, styling, consulting, and content creation. If you're following French fashion influencers Salomé and Tamara Mory on Instagram but haven't yet discovered their equally stylish mother, Elisabeth Bento, you're definitely missing out. (And if you aren’t following any of them, what are you waiting for?!) While her daughters have amassed tens of thousands of followers, it is Elisabeth who brings decades of industry expertise, which is why I was thrilled to invite her to join Who What Wear's cohort of editors in residence. She embarked on her journey in the 1990s as a model with Karin Models in Paris. In the early 2000s, she transitioned to journalism, serving as a fashion editor for L’Officiel in Paris. She subsequently became the image director for the French brand Maje, helping shape the brand's visual identity. Since then, Bento has worked independently as a stylist, creative consultant, and content creator. Additionally, she founded The Closeters, a project dedicated to secondhand fashion and circular wardrobes. For this article, I asked Bento to share five fashion trends that she and her two daughters all embrace.       1. Butter Yellow

      "I first wore butter yellow last spring because my daughters were enamored with it, and I completely fell in love with it as well," Bento shares. "We have such delightful memories associated with that color, so I’m excited to bring it back this season. This spring, I’m pairing butter yellow with blue jeans and beige and warm brown tones. It feels fresh yet remains quite elegant—my method of borrowing a trend from my daughters and putting a more Parisian spin on it."

      2. Polka Dots

      "Polka dots are definitely not a new trend,” Bento notes. "We had already worn them a lot last year, but I appreciate when a trend endures and becomes a classic. The brand we all adore is Réalisation Par. My daughters started wearing it first and I followed suit. Some styles are quite sexy and perfect for their age, while others are elegant and evoke the dress Julia Roberts wore at the polo match in Pretty Woman. To me, polka dots represent the most intergenerational print. I primarily wear them in dresses featuring black and white or navy and white. However, this spring, I want to try the red and white version I saw on Tamara. Quite bold, but why not?"

      3. Mickey Mouse

      "Mickey Mouse has made a significant return to our wardrobes this spring, whether it’s a T-shirt, cashmere sweater, or sweatshirt," Bento remarks. "Salomé has the most stunning cashmere version, and I immediately adopted the sweatshirt for myself. I adore this trend because it feels playful while still being stylish. It injects a relaxed, cool energy into everyday outfits while maintaining a chic vibe." She adds, "There’s also a strong nostalgia for the 2000s associated with it for me. I’ll never forget Carrie Bradshaw wearing a Mickey T-shirt with a tuxedo jacket in Sex and the City—it’s one of the most memorable fashion moments from the series."

      4. Colorful Bags

      "On a daily basis, my outfits consist of simple basics: baggy jeans, a T-shirt, and a grey cashmere sweater," Bento explains. "Incorporating a colorful bag instantly elevates the look and adds that fun, feminine flair that I adore. What’s wonderful about these vibrant bags is how they can make even the simplest outfit appear styled and intentional. It’s such a straightforward way to experiment with fashion without having to revamp your entire wardrobe. We’ve also drawn great inspiration from Jacob Elordi’s outfits lately. He boasts quite an array of bags: colorful, large, small, crossbody, shoulder, etc."

      5. Aviator Sunglasses

      "A significant part of the aviator trend’s resurgence, for me, is credited to brands like Phoebe Philo and Khaite. They showcased aviator sunglasses magnificently in their recent collections, reminding me why I fell in love with them in the first place. There’s also an element of nostalgia surrounding aviators. After years of tiny ’90s sunglasses, I’m yearning for that bold early-2000s energy once again—think Carrie Bradshaw vibes. Tamara has been frequently sporting oversized aviator sunglasses lately, and they look fantastic on her. Watching her wear them so effortlessly inspired me to do the same this spring."
