Summer has just concluded in Australia—check out what the local style icons donned to achieve a fashionable look.

At Who What Wear, our trend predictions usually come from a detailed analysis of runway shows, spanning from New York to Paris. However, what if we changed our approach and focused on a country that is currently a whole season ahead of us? That's right, I mean Australia. Those in the Southern Hemisphere have already dealt with weather changes and, more importantly, have adapted their wardrobes to meet the demands of summer. They are aware of which items flew off the shelves, which summer trends transitioned from the runway to the streets, and which trends were cast aside by fashion enthusiasts. While we can observe their Instagram posts and TikTok videos, we believed it would be more beneficial to gather insights directly from an Australian native, which brings us to Bianca Vagner-Cromb.

As the creative director of the Australian fashion brand Kookaï, Vagner-Cromb has a solid understanding, both professionally and personally, of what fashion-forward individuals embraced this summer. Personally, she identifies as an It girl with a unique style that she describes as "refined, effortless, and feminine." Based in Melbourne, Australia's fashion capital and a haven for style influencers, Vagner-Cromb points out that the city has a unique aesthetic. "In Melbourne, street style aligns quite closely with New York. It's experimental and expressive, as it's the main fashion hub of Australia," Vagner-Cromb informs Who What Wear. "People dress deliberately, but it never appears overly styled. Even in summer, there's a relaxed, off-duty vibe." This fashion often incorporates breathable yet polished pieces that allow for ease throughout the day, like loose pants paired with simple yet elevated tops. "When I want a fuss-free outfit, I prefer a matching Kookaï set," Vagner-Cromb explains. "It simplifies the dressing process while still looking thoughtful." If she's not donning Kookaï during summer, she opts for other Australian brands favored by It girls, such as Venroy and SIR.

Continue reading to find out what fashion icons in Australia wore this summer, as shared by Vagner-Cromb, and shop for the best items to help you mirror their styles, regardless of where you plan to spend the upcoming season. Keep in mind that many of the styles mentioned are timeless and anti-trend, as Australians prioritize a capsule wardrobe that feels personal and is enhanced by cuts, fabrics, and silhouettes.

      **‘90s-Inspired Silhouettes**

"A key trend I observed was the resurgence of ‘90s- and ‘00s-inspired silhouettes, including knee-length skirts, capris, headbands, and three-quarter sleeve tops. I anticipate this will continue into our winter, which I’m excited about, as there’s so much potential to explore."

      **Shop the style:**

      - Reformation: Santino Knit Top

      - Anthropologie: Simply Nova Headbands

      **Neutral Tones**

"I noticed a transition away from bold prints and highly seasonal colors towards more refined, timeless summer attire—pieces that are thoughtfully designed and can remain in your wardrobe beyond just one season. Chocolate tones continued to be popular, alongside softer neutrals."

      **Shop the style:**

      - MANGO: Cotton Jacket With Pockets

      - Gap: Modern Crewneck T-Shirt

      - Banana Republic: The Studio Wide-Leg Drawstring Pant in Linen

      **Bermuda Shorts & Capris**

"There has been a noticeable shift in the lengths of bottoms, and it’s been exciting to witness both brands and consumers testing them out. Knee-length skirts and Bermuda shorts gained popularity. Even longer, wide-leg capris, which I would have previously overlooked, have surprisingly proven easy to wear and style from day to night. It’s been refreshing to have various bottom options to pair with my core wardrobe."

      **Shop the style:**

      - Open Edit: The Curator Crepe Culottes

      - Reformation: Jill Cropped Knit Pant

      - Kookaï: Ariel Cropped Pants

      - Faithfull: Valeria Capri Pants

      **Lace Trimming**

"I noticed a lot of delicate detailing, especially lace trims, which have continued to trend and added a more feminine, sophisticated touch to otherwise understated silhouettes."

      **Shop the style:**

      - Open Edit: Lace Trim Satin Shorts

      - Chloé: Fitted Mini Lingerie Dress in Stretch Nylon & Lace

      - Free People: Something Satin Half Slip

      **Stripes**

"Stripes were in vogue in Australia, particularly in knitted apparel. I believe that's what girls are gravitating toward when seeking something a bit more special, whether it’s knitted striped shorts paired with a tee or a striped dress complemented by flat sandals."

      **Shop the style:**

      - J.Crew: 2025 Rollneck™ Sweater in Stripe

      - Reformation: Asher Oversized Long Sleeve Tee
