The second stage of the festival "Movement in the Vertical," dedicated to the memory of Stanislav Govorukhin, is starting in the Vologda region.
From April 20 to 27, 2026, the second stage of the film festival "Movement Upwards" will take place in Cherepovets and several other cities in the Vologda region, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian director, screenwriter, and public figure Stanislav Govorukhin.
As part of the project, film screenings, creative meetings, master classes, and other events aimed at popularizing the master's legacy and developing cultural dialogue in the region will be held. The main target audience of the festival includes youth, high school students, students of creative universities, as well as professional filmmakers and theater figures seeking to enhance their competencies in the field of artistic creativity.
Residents and guests of Cherepovets and other cities in the Vologda region are also invited to participate in the festival, making it a large-scale cultural event in the region. Thanks to a diverse program: directing master classes, creative meetings, a photo exhibition, and film screenings, it will become a platform for experience exchange, professional skill development, and the popularization of Russian cultural traditions among youth and specialists.
The "Movement Upwards" film festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Vologda region. The events are organized by: LLC "KinoFocus," the Center for Film Festivals and International Programs, the "Vertical" Film Studio, and the "Mosfilm" Film Concern.
The main venues for the festival events will be the Cherepovets Regional College of Arts and Crafts named after V.V. Vereshchagin (Cherepovets, Stalevarov St., 34A) and the "Komsomolets" cinema (Cherepovets, Gorky St., 22A). Film screenings, master classes, discussions, and creative meetings aimed at developing professional skills and expanding opportunities for creativity among young participants and industry specialists will take place there.

April 20
At 17:00, the opening of a photo exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Stanislav Govorukhin will take place at the Cherepovets Regional College of Arts and Crafts named after V.V. Vereshchagin. A press approach with the participation of organizers and officials will also be organized there.
April 21
At 11:00 (small hall of the college), a master class on the topic "How an Image is Born on Screen" will be held for students of the theater faculty and participants of theater studios in the city, led by actress and director Olga Belyaeva.
At 14:00 (small hall of the college), a master class on the topic: "What is 'Artmasters'," will be conducted by Boris Nevolin, General Director of the Artmasters Production Center.
At 19:00, the film "The End of a Beautiful Era" directed by S. Govorukhin will be screened at the "Komsomolets" cinema.
April 22
At 10:00, the film "The Secret of the Dark Room" (dir. O. Belyaeva) will be screened at the "Komsomolets" cinema.
At 12:00, a creative meeting with film director Olga Belyaeva and a screening of her film "Dangerous Holidays" for a children's audience will take place at the "Komsomolets" cinema.
At 11:00 (small hall of the college), a creative meeting with Boris Nevolin will be held to summarize the three-year conduct of the National Open Championship of Creative Competencies "Artmasters," with screenings of the winning films: "Young" (dir. L. Gardash), "The Tale of the Fish. Not Golden. Told by Grandfather Gordey to his Grandson Before Sleep on Wednesday" (dir. A. Kuzovkov), and "Swallow" (dir. M. Korablev).
Also, starting from April 20, 2026, for seven days, within the framework of the "Conversation about Important Matters" section, classes dedicated to the memory of Stanislav Govorukhin will be held in educational institutions of the region, and film screenings of S.S. Govorukhin's films, films made at the "Vertical" Film Studio and "Mosfilm," as well as the director's favorite films, will take place at film venues in the region.
