At last! I've figured out how to smell precisely like Victoria Beckham for just £30.
As a beauty editor with a passion for fragrances, nothing excites me more than discovering a new perfume. Among our favorite scents at the Who What Wear UK beauty team are the Victoria Beckham Beauty fragrances, which truly attract compliments. However, expanding your fragrance collection can become quite an expensive pursuit, particularly with luxury items. That's why I want to share my tip for experiencing pricey perfumes for less: perfume discovery sets. Fortunately, Victoria Beckham Beauty offers two such sets that allow you to explore their scents before investing in a £170 full-sized bottle. Additionally, you can apply the cost of the sample set towards a full-size bottle that you love, making it a great deal.
The Signature Collection Fragrance Discovery Set is priced at £40, featuring four 2ml vials of all VBB fragrances, including 21:50 Rêverie, Vanilla, Portofino '97, Suite 302, and San Ysidro Drive. With this set, you'll also receive a £40 voucher for a full-sized bottle, allowing you to test and wear each scent to determine which you prefer, without the worry of regret. From my own experience, you can easily enjoy three or four applications of each sample.
The Original Collection Fragrance Discovery Set contains the three original scents from the line (Portofino '97, Suite 302, and San Ysidro Drive) in 2ml vials, along with a £30 voucher for a full-sized bottle. Interested in the fragrances from the VBB collection? Keep reading for my reviews of each scent from the discovery sets.
1. Portofino '97
Key notes: Calabrian bergamot, black pepper, incense, amber, patchouli, vetiver
Editor review: It’s no surprise that this is the top seller and my personal favorite from the discovery set. This citrus fragrance opens like a refreshing summer breeze, transporting you to a luxurious hotel on the Amalfi Coast, overlooking a dazzling blue sea from your grand balcony. Inspired by Victoria and David Beckham's romantic getaway to Portofino in the '90s, it features a vibrant mix of bergamot, black pepper and a musky, skin-like tone that resembles the feeling of slipping into soft, high-thread-count sheets. Pure bliss.
2. 21:50 Rêverie
Key notes: Tobacco leaves, plum, vanilla, Tonka bean, cedarwood
Editor review: This mesmerizing vanilla fragrance is a close second favorite of mine, garnering numerous compliments. It’s smooth, creamy, and as alluring as a tropical island evening. Based on the Beckhams' candlelit dinner experience in Java, surrounded by lush rainforests and mountains at night, this sensual scent remains on the skin for a long time, making it perfect for those who enjoy a sophisticated vanilla aroma.
3. Suite 302
Key notes: Black cherry, red peppercorn, rose centifolia, violet, musk, papyrus, black leather, tobacco leaf
Editor review: A spray of Suite 302 transports you to a lavish Parisian hotel suite adorned with luxurious floral arrangements and fine white linens, accompanied by chocolate-covered cherries on a silver platter. It's both elegant and seductive, blending juicy black cherry with hints of smoky tobacco and musk, inviting you to repeatedly inhale from your wrists.
4. San Ysidro Drive
Key notes: Passion fruit, pink peony, ocean air, rose absolute, saffron flower, agarwood, black amber, vanilla
Editor review: Finally, San Ysidro Drive presents a woody floral scent that envelops you in a sunny aura of succulent passionfruit and breezy ocean freshness, paired with soft peony petals. The grounding element of agarwood helps this fragrance linger pleasantly throughout the day.
