Meryl Streep's stylist discusses the one outfit from the Devil Wears Prada press tour that isn't receiving enough attention.
The press tour for The Devil Wears Prada 2 continues to yield exciting news. With the film releasing in theaters today, May 1, we've reached the conclusion of the official promotional phase, but I suspect the festivities will carry on through Met Gala Monday. After closely following the red carpet events, I had the chance to interview Meryl Streep's stylist, Micaela Erlanger, who is collaborating with TJ Maxx to show fashion enthusiasts that designer items don’t have to break the bank. In our discussion, Erlanger shared the outfit Streep wore that she believes deserves more recognition. "I adored the look from her Shanghai appearance," Erlanger mentioned to Who What Wear. "It featured a blue structured jacket and a black cinched belt from Anthony Vaccarello’s spring 2025 Saint Laurent collection. It was meant to pay homage to Yves Saint Laurent as referenced in the famous cerulean monologue, where she recalls the 2002 show showcasing blue structured jackets with black belts. Initially, it was the fictional realm referencing fashion, and now it’s fashion referencing the fictional realm and its real fashion history. It’s all very meta!" I also inquired about how Erlanger balanced the looks between Miranda and Meryl during the press tour. "I think fans are responding to a type of confidence and strength associated with Miranda, but our aim was never to replicate looks—it was to embody that energy in a way that feels entirely authentic to Meryl," Erlanger explained. "We concentrated on bold tailoring, defined shoulders, leopard print, striking accessories, and outfits that felt intentional." Erlanger elaborated on why this partnership aligns well with her goals. "My approach to styling centers on making fashion accessible without compromising on integrity," she explained. "I truly believe great style begins with quality: the craftsmanship, how it maintains its shape, and how it makes you feel when you wear it. What I appreciate about TJ Maxx is that you don't have to sacrifice quality for a great price. You can discover well-crafted, premium designer brands and make them your own." A pair of great sunglasses conveys authority, and you can really experiment with frame styles and lens colors come spring."

(Image credit: Getty Images) "TJ Maxx's selection of designer shoes, particularly online, features some of my favorite designers!" Erlanger shared. "I often say shoes narrate the story of an outfit, and a playful pair—think a statement pump or an embellished mule—can significantly influence posture and confidence." Explore More:
