We adore you, Kimi, but YSL has just triumphed in the 2026 Miami Grand Prix.
It's Sunday, May 3, which signifies two key events: The Met Gala is just hours away, and the checkered flag has been waved at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. While Kimi Antonelli claimed the first-place trophy, it was actually Saint Laurent that triumphed this weekend. The French fashion house managed to be prevalent in and around the Miami International Autodrome, not due to any marketing effort or flashy event, but because the most fashionable attendees at the race opted to wear it. This included vintage items sourced from Saint Laurent's archives as well as complete looks directly from the runway. Consequently, the 2026 Miami Grand Prix showcased some of the finest fashion moments I've witnessed during a race weekend, perhaps ever. Let's dive into the details.
On Lewis Hamilton: Saint Laurent Windbreaker ($3200), Large-Fit Pants ($1900), Stanton Derbie ($1350), Tie ($300), and Shirt ($2200) Styled by: Eric McNeal. Before the weekend kicked off, Lewis Hamilton debuted one of his most impressive paddock outfits in a while—in my opinion, his best look since joining Scuderia Ferrari—arriving for media day in off-the-runway Saint Laurent menswear from the brand's S/S 26 collection. He wore a neon-orange pullover windbreaker layered over a matching silk shirt and burgundy tie, complemented by pleated brown trousers and black derbies. The ensemble was sharp and refined yet playful, a refreshing departure for Hamilton fans who have seen less of this lately. Looking back, we were fortunate to witness him wearing upwards of four runway or custom designs every race weekend. Now that Hamilton is more discerning, seeing him dress up in the paddock has become a special event, especially when a standout outfit like this one makes an appearance.
On Hailey Bieber: Vintage Yves Saint Laurent top. On Alexandra Leclerc: FRAME Casino Top ($198) and Casino Capri ($198). Later that day, Alexandra Leclerc, Charles Leclerc's wife, marked the launch of her new collaboration with FRAME by hosting an intimate dinner at Casa Tua Miami Beach, attended by notable guests like Hailey Bieber, Kim Petras, and Anastasia Karanikolaou. Here, the first appearance of Saint Laurent was noted on Bieber, a fitting moment given her long-standing relationship with the Parisian brand. Seated beside Leclerc, the founder of Rhode was attired in a rare vintage piece: a Yves Saint Laurent by Tom Ford scarf top from the F/W 2004 collection. It was a solid start, yet the YSL sightings continued to impress.
On Alexandra Leclerc: Saint Laurent Jacket ($3400), Pencil Skirt ($2100), and Deroche Slingback Pumps ($1250). On race day, despite heavy rain and thunderstorms that pushed the start time ahead, we witnessed another Saint Laurent look on Alexandra Leclerc as she arrived at the track with her husband and their adorable long-haired miniature Dachshund, Leo. For the occasion, Leclerc selected an outfit from the spring 2026 collection, sporting a sporty windbreaker similar to Hamilton's but paired with a two-tone pencil skirt and striking satin slingbacks in a soft peach color. Although satin isn't the best choice for wet conditions, her outerwear was quite fitting. So, while Antonelli won the race, no brand made a stronger fashion impact than Saint Laurent this weekend. In F1 terms, that's 25 World Championship points (and a significant number of social media impressions).
