"It Becomes an Extension of Yourself": Victoria Justice Discusses Pop Star Fragrance, Sentimental Characters, and Her New Eco-Friendly Scent
If you were born around 1996 to 2002, you probably remember seeing Victoria Justice's name prominently displayed on your TV screen. Whether you recognized her from Nickelodeon's *Zoey 101* (time for my senior editors and directors to stand up) or *Victorious* (my hand is raised high), Justice epitomized cool-girl style—from the bright blue streaks in Lola Martinez's hair to Tori Vega's chic L.A. outfits and long, bouncy curls. However, when I spoke to Justice on a call, I found her in a much more laid-back setting, cozily wrapped in a robe, ready to share details about her latest beauty venture: a new fragrance line called Naked Perfume.
The brand was launched in partnership with experienced beauty founder Randi Shinder, and it almost seemed destined to be as they bonded over a mutual passion for beauty and an unforeseen health issue that connected them. "We immediately clicked because we both have Hashimoto's, which is an autoimmune disorder," she reveals to *Who What Wear*. This condition, which occurs when the immune system attacks healthy thyroid glands (as per Mayo Clinic), influenced both women’s perspectives on beauty—especially regarding the products they used on their skin (“It’s the largest organ on your body!” Justice asserts exasperatedly later). “Randi explained how much it impacted her life and her desire to create a fine fragrance that wouldn’t harm anyone,” Justice shares. “When I heard that, it was music to my ears. We instantly agreed that we had to collaborate.” Following this, Justice, who had taken a break from perfumes due to their negative effects on her immune system, re-entered the fragrance world with Naked Perfume's Honey Cream. “I've been wearing it constantly lately,” she admits, praising its sweet, alluring scent made from just six ingredients that don’t feel like a chemistry experiment.
Keep reading to catch up with Justice about her fragrance favorites, early on-set memories, and how wellness continues to shape her views on beauty, style, and life.
How excited are you about this new venture?
I’m incredibly excited! I’ve wanted to start a brand for a long time, but I didn’t want to rush into anything unless it felt right and truly represented me. My passion for Naked Perfume is immense. I adore the scent—it’s irresistibly addictive—plus, knowing it won’t harm those who wear it makes it even better.
We're launching with two fragrances, correct?
Yes, we are! The first one is Honey Cream, which I've been wearing all the time. It contains notes of honey, vanilla, and sweet cream, reminiscent of a warm hug. It’s comforting, sweet, and lovely without being overwhelming. What I appreciate most about Naked Perfume is that it feels like a second skin—never too strong or overwhelming, which was a must for me. Our other scent, Fresh Lather, is gorgeous as well. It has this clean, bubble-bath, soapy aroma—fresh, clean, and delightful. I love them both, and even more fragrances are on the way, so this is just the beginning.
Can you break down these two scents for me? In what situations do you wear them?
Currently, Honey Cream is my top choice for date nights due to its subtly sexy, inviting, and sweet nature. The moment I spray it, I feel a confidence boost, marking the final step in my getting-ready routine. Fresh Lather feels like an everyday scent to me. It’s perfect for when you’re a busy woman on the go but still want to feel refreshed.
The creation of these fragrances is very personal for you. Why does the concept of going "naked" resonate today?
People are increasingly becoming conscious about what they put in and on their bodies, expecting more from brands. Many fragrances contain ingredients that are unrecognizable and potentially harmful to women’s hormones and endocrine systems. That was crucial for both Randi and me—crafting a fine fragrance while being transparent about the ingredients and ensuring zero hormone or endocrine disruptors. After my Hashimoto’s diagnosis, I became much more aware of my lifestyle, considering what I applied to my body. I realized many perfumes I loved were harmful to my endocrine system and hormones, leading me to stop wearing them for a time, which was disappointing since fragrance is such a big part of identity. I sought options in the clean-perfume space and contacted my agent. Once I tried Honey Cream, I was hooked, wearing the sample daily—I absolutely adored it. It was not overpowering and felt sexy, warm, and inviting, plus all the ingredients were clean. I appreciate that it’s micellar water-based, derived from coconuts, and made with natural aromas. Now as a co-founder with Randi, we’re developing several other yet-to-be-revealed scents, including some peptide perfumes, which is
