Look forward to insights on emerging tastemakers, new designers, and shopping and style preferences from the generation driving these trends. This summer, fashion is less about achieving perfection and, thankfully, it’s much more enjoyable because of it. The trendiest individuals I know have shifted away from fitting into curated TikTok aesthetics and are now embracing their unique personal style. One day, you might see them in vintage board shorts paired with a sculptural watch and jelly sandals, while the next day they could be sporting a pocketed carpenter belt with a tiny lace tank top and studded capri pants. From the Lower East Side to Silver Lake, personal style is vibrant and back in full swing, characterized by a playful, chaotic, hyper-individual vibe that is distinctly Gen Z.

      This season, we’re not witnessing just a single trend but rather a surge of micro-trends that evoke feelings of nostalgia while also feeling refreshingly new. There’s still a love for polished, luxurious items—think micro watches and artistic timepieces from brands like Movado, or runway-inspired shield sunglasses seen on figures like Bella Hadid—but these pieces are being styled in deliberately surprising ways.

      Currently, the stylish Gen Z crowd is clearly dressing for themselves, their friends, and, naturally, for social media moments. Whether it’s tomato-red swim shorts, sheer T-shirts layered under tanks, or workwear-inspired accessories, here are seven micro-trends that are shaping the definition of Gen Z cool this summer:

      After my colleague and fellow Gen Zer, assistant shopping editor Josephine Hadjiloucas, highlighted this accessories trend a few weeks ago, both of us have noticed the pocketed work belt trend among every fashionable girl.
