I'm a Minimalist Dresser—This Is the One Summer Trend That Surprised Me with Its Appeal.
If you take a look in my closet, you'll likely see that one color dominates significantly. For years, I've been a fan of black, to the point that I seldom wear any other colors. I even penned an article about how I continue to wear black despite the heat of 90-degree weather. However, I've recently found myself unexpectedly drawn to adding more color to my outfits. It began with a tomato red dress from Faithfull, followed by hot pink ballet flats from Gimaguas, and then a turquoise top from Peachy Den. Interestingly, vibrant clothing is currently in vogue, and as someone who typically dresses in minimalist neutrals, I didn't think I'd enjoy this summer trend as much as I do. Reflecting on Who What Wear's Great Try-On for spring, colorful tops emerged as a key trend. Moreover, on the runways for spring/summer 2026, there was a clear shift towards maximalism, showcasing bright colors and playful, flirtatious styles. Shows from designers like Celine, Miu Miu, Prada, Simone Rocha, and Tory Burch featured hues such as poppy red, burnt orange, royal purple, chartreuse, and bubblegum pink. If you're like me and looking to gradually incorporate more color into your wardrobe but feel hesitant, you can always start with a dress, top, or skirt, or even a single accessory like a bag or shoes. Below, you can shop the summer 2026 trend.
