Switching from perfume to these body mists has resulted in a flood of compliments for me.

If there's a stylish fragrance brand that can excite any beauty editor or enthusiast, it's certainly Byredo perfumes. With its trendy fragrance names and the signature black domed lids that instantly enhance your vanity, the luxury perfume brand has much to offer. Over my ten years as a beauty journalist, I've acquired several Byredo perfume bottles (Mojave Ghost and Vanille Antique are among my top favorites, in case you're curious) along with its hair perfumes (the Gypsy Water Hair Perfume? My hair has never smelled better). And with perfumed body mists emerging as a major fragrance product trend in recent years, I've often imagined what a Byredo Body Mist would be like. So when an email arrived announcing that Byredo was launching some of its most popular fragrances as body mists this month, I was eager to try them.

These might be the most stylish body mists I've ever seen. In classic Byredo style, they're presented in elegantly minimalist frosted glass bottles that feel luxuriously substantial in your hand, and the misting mechanism emits a delightful cloud-like spray that feels wonderful on the body or clothes. They're perfect for refreshing or layering with your current Byredo perfume to enhance its longevity or even combining with another scent. Additionally, they provide a chance to experience some of Byredo's beloved fragrances at a more accessible price point, retailing at £68 for a generous 100ml. While they are definitely lighter than the eau de parfums, I've received numerous compliments wearing them alone. Plus, at that price, I feel more inclined to spritz these more liberally whenever I want to refresh my scent. Currently, there are six Byredo body mists available, so if you need guidance on which one to choose, continue reading for my initial thoughts on each scent.

      1. Byredo Bal d'Afrique Body Mist

Key notes: African Marigold, bergamot, blackcurrant, lemon, jasmine, lily of the valley, violet, black amber, musks, tonka bean, cedarwood, vetiver

Bal d'Afrique is one of Byredo's most iconic and beloved scents, so it’s no surprise to see it included in the body mist line-up. This floral-woody fragrance is a definite crowd-pleaser. It combines a lively, sparkling lemon top note with a smooth, musky dry-down that integrates seamlessly with your skin, making it an excellent choice for daytime wear in almost any setting. It’s akin to the crisp white shirt of perfumes—suitable for everyone and any occasion.

      2. Byredo Mojave Ghost Body Mist

Key notes: Jamaican naseberry, ambrette, magnolia, sandalwood, violet, vetiver, blonde woods, chantilly musk, amber

Mojave Ghost is my absolute favorite among Byredo's offerings, and I'm thrilled to say that the body mist is just as delightful. If you enjoy woody and musky fragrances, I highly recommend trying it. To me, it has the aroma of high-end shampoo you'd experience in a luxury salon, yet it's inspired by the sun-drenched Mojave Desert in California. It’s an elegant scent that leaves a soft, luminous trail of creamy ambrette, smooth sandalwood, and skin-like musk. Honestly, I've received so many compliments that I’ve lost count.

      3. Byredo Gypsy Water Body Mist

Key notes: Bergamot, juniper berry, lemon, orris butter, pine needles, amber, sandalwood, vanilla

Picture yourself in a mountain cabin during spring, flinging open the windows to let in the scent of pine carried by a refreshing breeze. Gypsy Water encapsulates the fragrance of fresh air and feels both grounding and luxurious with its woodsy, aromatic, and invigorating scent.

      4. Byredo Blanche Body Mist

Key notes: Violet, rose centifolia, peony, birch woods, musks, sandalwood

It’s no wonder this one is sold out almost everywhere. If you wish to smell as fresh and clean as freshly laundered clothes, then Blanche is the body mist you’ll want to apply liberally on your skin and clothing. This clean fragrance evokes the scent of fresh laundry and crisp white sheets. If you’re searching for a luxurious scent for your gym bag, this would be an excellent pick.

      5. Byredo Rose of No Man's Land Body Mist

Key notes: Pink pepper, Turkish rose, raspberry blossom, Turkish rose absolute, amber, papyrus

Typically, rose fragrances aren’t my preference, but I must admit this one is worth experiencing. It's vastly different from the outdated rose scents of the past, exuding a spicy pepperiness and warm amber. Yet, it also carries an airiness reminiscent of velvety red rose petals drifting in the breeze, imparting a nostalgic and comforting essence.

      6. Byredo Alto Astral Body Mist

Key notes: Aldehyde, coconut water, incense,
