Inside the One-Year-Old Luxury Retreat in Mexico That’s Currently a Hotspot for Fashion Forward Women
Welcome to Fashion's Finest Stays, a travel series where we provide our fashion-editor perspective on the hospitality industry. Here, you will gain exclusive insider access to some of the world's most celebrated hotels and resorts, revealing all the details you may want to know before making a reservation. Luxury travelers are increasingly hard to impress. Expectations now include farm-to-table dining, exceptional service, extensive amenities, and the unique ability to feel like the only guest on the premises. The trendy hotels attracting attention in 2026 are not just excelling in one aspect but are creating outstanding experiences in every area. This is precisely why Rosewood Mandarina has become the latest favorite among fashion enthusiasts and well-informed travelers.
Nestled along the Pacific coastline in the Riviera Nayarit, roughly an hour north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, Rosewood Mandarina occupies 565 acres. While large in size, it retains a deeply intimate feel. The property resembles a private oasis rather than a conventional resort, unfolding across a verdant landscape where the jungle, beach, and mountains meet, creating a backdrop that justifies the journey there.
Having opened in April 2025 and still relatively undiscovered, I had the chance to visit at the end of May, quickly realizing its allure—it truly has everything. My exceptional experience began upon landing when a private driver welcomed me at the airport and escorted me through secure gates (providing immediate peace of mind). Upon arrival, I was greeted with a ceremonial tejuino (a beverage combining pineapple and fermented corn), served in a beautiful ceramic cup. This thoughtful greeting set the tone for a three-night stay characterized by warm hospitality, local culture, and remarkable attention to detail. Keep reading to discover more about the indulgences and limitless experiences Rosewood Mandarina offers, along with the top summer fashion travel trends included in my packing.
Upon arriving at Rosewood Mandarina, you'll immediately feel as though you've entered a unique realm, nestled between mountains shrouded in rainforest and the sea. A profound sense of tranquility envelops you, grounding you in nature and setting the stage for a restorative and enchanting experience.
Following a smooth check-in, you meet your personal butler, who will serve as your dedicated contact throughout your visit. Whether you need help with dinner reservations, organizing excursions, ordering room service, or preparing your evening bath, they are always at your service. Afterward, your butler will guide you on a tour of the property, starting with insights on how Rosewood Mandarina pays homage to Mexican culture through its art and design.
These influences are unmistakable. The lobby features a roof and walls made from materials resembling ropes, taking inspiration from the looms used by Indigenous people to craft textiles. There's also exquisite Huichol beadwork, known as "chaquira," created bead by bead. Throughout the resort, you’ll find vibrant murals, stamped linen canvases, and beaded animal figures by artists connected to Mexican heritage and the Pacific Coast. Rosewood Mandarina further highlights Mexican culture at The Artisan Boutique, situated by the beach, where you can find a curated assortment of ceramics, woven vessels, textiles, and authentic crafts that showcase the region’s textures and traditions.
After exploring the lobby, you will be transported to your suite or villa via a private golf cart. You’ll soon notice that the property is designed with guest privacy in mind. While some accommodations share a structure, each features its own walkway and entrance. I stayed in a Flatland Suite on the property's lowest section, but options also include ocean-view mountain suites, poolside suites, and mountaintop villas. No matter the type, each accommodation is equally beautiful and spacious, complete with a private plunge pool, bathtub, outdoor shower, terrace, and butler service.
As for whether I would return, the answer is an unequivocal yes. Rosewood Mandarina truly possesses everything one could desire. Three nights was an enjoyable duration, but certainly not enough.
Rosewood Mandarina provides options for both relaxation and adventure. For those seeking experiences, guests can book guided hikes through the rainforest to see the ancient tree known as La Abuela, zip-line through the jungle, surf on the Pacific, or take tennis or pickleball lessons. Additionally, the property features a nine-hole par-three course with an extra challenge hole, not to mention a polo and equestrian center offering horseback and polo lessons as well as beach trail rides; you may even catch a polo tournament. Cooking and cocktail-making classes are also available.
During my visit, I participated in a cooking class, which I highly recommend. It was incredibly hands-on. I learned to make homemade corn tortillas using a roller and a tortilla press. I also crafted guacamole and salsa with a molcajete (a tool made from hand-carved volcanic rock). The class concluded with a chance to savor our creations alongside chicken and steak fajitas.
The culinary experience at Rosewood Mandarina is so remarkable that there’s
