I'm an expert at identifying emerging nail trends—here are seven we can expect to see all summer!

I don't know about you, but summer is one of my favorite seasons to try out various manicure styles. There’s something about the summer vibe that encourages me to opt for more fun, bold, and striking looks. To be honest, I usually stick to neutral shades most of the year, but as the temperatures rise, I embrace the seasonal change and use it as an opportunity to get creative. This year, it has become quite obvious that certain nail trends will be prominent over the coming months. Just the other day, while browsing TikTok, I noticed numerous videos discussing the popularity of bare nails and square French manicures (more on that below). With everyday nail designs going viral and celebrity-inspired manicures making headlines throughout festival season, there is genuinely a broad array of styles that suit everyone. Don’t believe me? I spoke with three celebrity nail artists for insights straight from the experts. Below, discover the seven nail trends that are set to take over this summer.

Top Nail Trends for Summer 2026

      **Naked Nails**

As you might have seen, the no-polish look is everywhere now. While some individuals prefer to go totally polish-free, others like to keep it as close to bare as possible while still using a neutral hue. That’s where naked nails come in. "As a nail enthusiast with over 500 bottles of polish, it pains me to admit it, but bare nails are among the hottest trends this summer," says celebrity nail expert and Sally Beauty brand ambassador Juli Russell. "Think healthy, well-groomed nails with a strengthening treatment, possibly topped with a super glossy finish." She notes that this results in a polished appearance that’s simple to maintain between salon visits.

      **Textured Nails**

Elevating your bold manicure is effortless when you incorporate texture. "This summer, textured nail designs are trending, featuring raised elements, crystals, pearls, and sculpted details taking the spotlight," says Jacqueline Pham, a celebrity manicurist for Color Street. "These designs convert nails into wearable art and allow for endless customization, which makes them especially popular with my trend-savvy clients."

      **Short Square French Nails**

Recently, I've stumbled upon videos showing almond and oval nail fans trying out square French manicures (and enjoying them), so I’m not surprised by Russell's prediction that this will be a trend this summer. "Short square nails are quickly emerging as the season's must-have look," she shares. "They are practical, low maintenance, and exude a clean, luxurious appearance without much effort."

      **Bangle Nails**

This trend has been around all year and is currently my favorite due to its maximalist vibe. "Bangle nails are one of the most fashion-forward trends of summer, inspired by layered jewelry and metallic accessories," explains Pham. "Featuring chrome finishes paired with strategically placed rhinestones, this style creates a statement manicure that feels bold, modern, and ideal for festival season or summer nights out."

      **Whimsical Nails**

Think back to the nostalgia of 2012 for this trend. "People are embracing playful, personality-filled nail art that sparks conversations and evokes a sense of nostalgia, with plenty of whimsy," Russell notes. "This year, we’re seeing designs like goose nails, ladybugs, and other cute little characters making their way onto manicures." If you look closely, you might spot a tiny goldfish in this summer pond-inspired mani.

      **Floral Nails**

Florals gained popularity in spring and will remain a favorite in summer. "Any design featuring classic simple flowers, whether embellished or hand-drawn, is trending," says celebrity nail artist Katie Masters. "This trend ties back to the Y2K resurgence, as it evokes memories of the classic nail salon 'dot' flower, with a slight elevation!"

      **Holographic Nails**

Holographic nails have previously been on trend, and they are making a major comeback. "Glitters, chromes, and cat eyes are currently in vogue, and I believe a lot of it relates to the Y2K resurgence as well," Masters remarks. "Plus, holographic manicures are highly reflective, and since everyone is out enjoying the sun in the summer, having bright reflective nails is a perfect fit."
