I just returned from the Hamptons—here’s how traveling influences my style.
Blanca Miró Scrimieri serves as the editor-in-residence for Who What Wear UK and is a stylist based in Barcelona. The founder of the fashion brand La Veste and co-founder of the sunglasses line Delarge, she brings expertise in design, creative direction, and brand development. While you might recognize Miró from her partnerships with high-end fashion brands, it is likely her unique street style and outfit selection that have drawn you to her Instagram account. When she’s not at fashion week or engaged with La Veste, she can be found curating elegant tablescapes at @blanca_a_table.
People often inquire about where I seek inspiration, and to be honest, I don’t travel specifically for that purpose. I travel because I enjoy exploring new places, wandering through shops, markets, and bookstores, and I possess a strong sense of curiosity. The inspiration typically comes later. I've also noticed that traveling doesn’t fundamentally alter my taste; it's always been consistent, merely expanding with each new place I visit. The Hamptons was one such destination. I wasn’t captivated by the grand houses or the beaches; instead, it was all that surrounded them. The worn sweatshirts in small local boutiques, vintage American cookbooks with covers that tempted me to frame them, market stands laden with hats, monogrammed items everywhere, farm stalls that resembled film sets, vintage Porsches in the most delightful colors, and porches adorned with perfectly chosen chairs—all of these things remain etched in my memory.
Months later, while selecting a fabric, designing a belt, or getting dressed, I might realize that something I encountered there has subtly returned. It’s not that I’m attempting to replicate it; rather, it has integrated itself into the array of references I’ve gathered over the years. I believe that's how taste evolves—not by altering who you are, but by layering new elements onto what already exists.
Looking back, I can almost pinpoint the sources: Menorca, Paris, Jaipur, New York, and now the Hamptons. Each has imparted something unique to me—not a new style, but just a few more things to appreciate.
