Parisians have a stylish edge, but Scandinavian fashion is gaining popularity—here are 6 trends that insiders are frequently sporting this summer.
As the temperature appears to increase each day, it's evident that high summer is in full effect. In need of some effortless yet stylish outfits for my warm-weather wardrobe, I sought inspiration from the most fashionable dressers I know. Personally, I believe no one surpasses Scandinavian women in this regard. They expertly blend minimalist basics and simple designs with sculptural shapes, modern prints, and vibrant colors to create looks that feel both timeless and refreshingly contemporary. In a region where even the warmest summers can have a refreshing (or chilly) undertone, their ensembles are crafted with both functionality and style in mind. As a fashion editor who dislikes the cold and is drawn to classic yet playful items, I'm always on the lookout for trends that make their way into their summer attire.
If you’re into fashion, you’re likely aware that Scandi girls are today's trendsetters. We owe much to them for brands like Ganni and Cecilie Bahnsen, along with other remarkable Scandinavian labels. Many of the styles currently influencing our wardrobes have probably been spotted during recent seasons at Copenhagen Fashion Week (or, even better, on the street-style scene surrounding the shows). With ongoing debates about clean minimalism versus vibrant maximalism for summer 2026, there’s never been a better opportunity to incorporate the Scandi approach into your own seasonal wardrobe. Whether it's ultra-cool balloon pants, animal prints, stripes, or ‘60s-inspired vintage patterns, rest assured: there’s a Scandi trend in this collection that will appeal to you. Continue reading to uncover my seven favorites that define Scandi summer style for 2026.
1. Minidresses
Style Notes: Scandinavian women are known for their love of layering, from turtlenecks under shirts to multiple tees stacked together. However, summer 2026 is all about layering minidresses. Try one over lightweight harem pants like Nnenna Echem (shown above), over a long-sleeved top, or opt for a babydoll style in a soft hue for breezy practicality and versatile styling this summer, as exemplified by poster girl Elsa Hosk. Shop Minidresses:
- Helsa Mini Dress With Lace in Tech Poplin — The original piece that started it all.
- ASOS DESIGN V Neck Smock Poplin Mini Sundress With Lace Overlay — Find Nnenna's exact dress here.
- Topshop Cotton Deep V Lace Trapeze Mini Dress — Also available in a warm rust shade.
- Good American Broderie Anglaise Sleeveless V Neck Mini Dress — Pair this with jeans and ballet flats on cooler days for a Scandi-inspired look.
- Free People Sundazed Mini Dress — The slightly capped sleeves add a lovely detail.
2. Sculptural Heels
Style Notes: Scandinavian fashion typically avoids the mundane, focusing instead on unique shapes and silhouettes that enhance their outfits with distinct features. The emergence of sculptural heels perfectly exemplifies this trend. These wearable art pieces instantly elevate the cool factor of even the simplest ensembles, making them appear far more avant-garde than standard court shoes. Shop Sculptural Heels:
- Balenciaga Duchesse Leather Pumps — The elongated footbed reveals an admirable amount of toe cleavage.
- Charles & Keith Sculptural-Heel Pointed Pumps — These appear much more luxurious than their actual price.
- Anonymous Copenhagen Phia 55 Pin — Follow the Scandi trend by visiting Anonymous Copenhagen for their enviable shoe collection.
3. Vintage Prints
Style Notes: Many of the best vintage shops are found in Scandinavia, so it comes as no surprise that vintage prints are prevalent all year long. These eclectic, often rare pieces are a simple way to infuse your wardrobe with personality without feeling over-the-top. Take a look at Marie Jedig's summer outfit (above); while a lovely blouse would also be chic, her harlequin-print Saint Laurent peplum top (from the 1994 runway) adds an unrepeatable uniqueness. Shop Vintage Prints:
- Rixo Adele Silk Midi Dress — Known for its vintage print selections, Rixo is the go-to for something inspired.
- Carolina Herrera Silk Polka-Dot Midi Dress — Pair this with kitten-heel ballet flats this summer.
- Christian Dior 2004 Diorissimo Trotter Canvas Pochette Shoulder Bag — Farfetch's vintage offerings are among the best available right now.
- Saint Laurent 1980s Check Lavalliere Blouse — This is perfect when paired with capris and flats.
- Saint Laurent Le Maillon Heeled Mules — Sellier is the destination for elegant vintage shoes this summer.
4. Chic Co-Ords
Style Notes: Stylist and Rotate founder Jeanette Madsen (above) exemplifies how to style a co-ord set. Her blush-pink jacket and miniskirt are ready for any occasion due to the voluminous cocoon sleeves and structured design, with playful animal-print
