Each artisan infused their individual techniques into the iconic design using hand-tooled leather, quilting, embroidery, and other handcrafted elements. Priced between $2,995 and $4,995, this collection is now available for purchase on Coach's website. For the launch, we interviewed each artisan about their collaboration with Coach, what celebrating American craftsmanship means to them, and the design process behind their creations. "I left New York nearly 30 years ago to lead Rocketbuster and focus on crafting handmade custom boots. Being asked by Coach to collaborate on the American Craft project is truly significant for me. I feel like my design journey has come full circle. I am passionate about creating various items, with a deep appreciation for detail and technique, constantly working to manifest my own dreams and those of my customers. I believe in limitless possibilities; when we encounter challenges, it simply means we haven’t solved them yet. Collaborating with Coach was an enjoyable experience. Recently, we’ve been exploring nature themes in our boots, incorporating intricate inlays of wildflowers, butterflies, and insects. Adapting our latest inspirations into the Coach Tabby bag design was challenging but immensely gratifying. Working alongside their team was a delight. My customers have shared their excitement about their new bags, and I know I’ll cherish this collaboration for a long time." — Nevena Christi, Rocketbuster Handmade Custom Boots

"Partnering with Coach is profoundly meaningful to me because craftsmanship has always been central to my work. With over 20 years dedicated to textiles, I investigate how materials, construction, labor, and tradition tell stories. I aim to take familiar materials and techniques and recontextualize them for modern times. Coach has a rich history of American craftsmanship, so being invited to contribute my perspective to that legacy is both thrilling and congruent with my artistic vision. I believe craftsmanship is dynamic and evolving, shaped by today’s makers. This collaboration celebrates that continuum: acknowledging skill, materials, and tradition while reimagining what American craft can be today. The process took about 18 months from initial design to final construction. My approach is highly hands-on and iterative, and much of that time involved engaging with the materials. I design, cut, arrange textiles, and make adjustments while refining the work. Even with a solid initial idea, there’s a dialogue between design and the tangible creation. The process of building, editing, and finalizing the piece is crucial for me and the Coach team; it's where the final work truly develops its identity. I’m thrilled with how the piece turned out after being refined by the makers at Coach." — Luke Haynes

"Collaborating with Coach is fantastic. I have always respected Coach’s outstanding reputation, and working with them is a dream realized for me. This partnership provides my company with the chance to broaden our brand. Producing the components accurately was a challenge, as we handcraft everything from beginning to end. Ensuring everything fit perfectly came with difficulties. The design team at Coach was exceptional, never losing faith in us. We had to adjust our designs multiple times, but we ultimately achieved the desired results. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have A Cut Above Buckles as a part of the Coach family." — Andy Andrews, A Cut Above Buckles

"As a fiber artist, this collaboration is particularly significant because it highlights tufting in a new light. The dedication, skill, and care that go into fiber arts deserve acknowledgment alongside other craftsmanship forms. Working with Coach allowed me to transform my work into a functional piece, demonstrating that art can also serve practical purposes. I appreciate that this collaboration honors handmade craftsmanship and helps elevate fiber art to a broader audience. The process spanned nearly a year from concept to completion, during which we refined the design and developed a prototype to ensure the tufted material worked well on a bag. Once the design was finalized, it took about a month to handcraft the final panels." — Bo Hubbard
