So, when I learned that Drunk Elephant was releasing a foundation in mid-August, I didn't have high expectations. I would certainly try it since the brand’s skin-centric color products are among the best available, but I expected to set it aside for the rest of the hot months. How mistaken I was. I've been using this foundation daily—no exaggeration—since I received it a month ago, and remarkably, my skin has never appeared more natural. Here’s how I apply it for a seamless dewy glow—believe me, you’ll reconsider your tinted moisturizer.

Technically, the Kamo Triple-Peptide Cover Drops are more than just a foundation. They can be used as a base but also serve as a concealer for specific areas (like under the eyes or around the nose) or can be mixed with a serum or moisturizer for a soft tint. My favorite method is to wear them mixed with a serum for a lightweight, everyday look, as the formula’s amino acid-coated pigments offer sufficient coverage while allowing my skin's natural texture to shine through. The result is a smooth, even base that appears makeup-free.
Regarding those pigments: Encased in an amino acid layer, they provide a creamy, blendable color that spreads evenly across the skin. This design allows the formula to mix well with both water- and oil-based products without causing pilling (my biggest makeup pet peeve), ensuring compatibility with all skincare routines. Additionally, the formula includes skincare benefits, such as a 4% peptide complex that improves firmness and elasticity over time, as well as marula oil, green tea seed oil, and squalane for hydration and inflammation relief.
As noted, you can blend the Kamo Triple-Peptide Cover Drops with your chosen moisturizer or serum, a method I favor for an everyday, lightweight finish. Don’t worry about the product being water- or oil-based since the amino acid-coated pigments facilitate easy blending. Drunk Elephant's Protini Polypeptide Cream pairs particularly well with this foundation, creating a combined effect that feels like a standalone tinted moisturizer. I also enjoy mixing it with Rhode Highlighting Milk for a serum-like application (that's what I'm wearing in the photo above!).
Whether used alone or mixed with skincare, a pea-sized pump is all you need for your entire face. Don’t let the small packaging mislead you! Those 18% amino acid-coated pigments are highly concentrated, meaning a small amount of foundation has significant coverage. Trust that this small quantity will provide full coverage on its own, while combining it with skincare will yield a more dewy finish. The controlled pump dispenses precisely the right amount—clearly visible on my hand below—and you can add skincare before blending with a brush or your fingers.
Drunk Elephant's foundation is ideal for those who don't enjoy wearing foundation (like me) since you can adjust the coverage and finish depending on what you mix with it—be it moisturizer, face oil, milky toner, etc. Want more coverage one day?
