Versace is entering a new chapter. For the first time in its 47-year existence, the brand will be led by someone who doesn't share the Versace surname. Today, Donatella Versace announced her departure from her design position, with Dario Vitale, previously of Miu Miu, stepping in as the new Chief Creative Officer. "It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni's legacy," Donatella stated. "He was the true genius, but I hope I carry some of his spirit and tenacity. In my new role as Chief Brand Ambassador, I will remain Versace's most devoted supporter. Versace is in my DNA and forever in my heart." Donatella took over in 1997 after the tragic death of her brother Gianni Versace at the age of 50.
