I Retract All My Previous Statements—“Glass Slipper” Blue Is the Most Elegant Color Trend of Spring.
Although butter yellow appears to be the color currently captivating the fashion world, I must confess that I've been reluctant to embrace it. With my naturally fair skin, I've always had difficulties with milky hues. Fortunately, another color has been subtly emerging in the fashion landscape, providing a refreshing alternative. This color, which I would describe as "glass slipper" blue, is elegant, graceful, and unmistakably fresh. Its icy, delicate tone reminiscent of thick glass pieces possesses a soft, ethereal quality that conveys both dreamy romance and understated sophistication—an impressive achievement for any color. I would even argue that this hue exudes a quiet confidence; it's neither as sweet as pastels nor as striking as cobalt, making it a playful yet practical option for spring.
Piercing through the deep browns, burgundy, and greys that have dominated the style scene during the long winter months, this emerging color trend resonates with lightness and optimism. Perhaps it reflects our collective longing for comfort, or maybe it’s the innate nostalgia and whimsy that this shade brings to mind. Regardless, glass slipper blue is already gaining traction.
I first noticed this color subtly appearing in street style during Paris Fashion Week, showing up in the form of airy dresses, elegant suits, and shiny accessories. It then began to make appearances on the runways, with brands like Louis Vuitton, Ujoh, and Chloé incorporating it into their spring/summer collections in a manner that felt both contemporary and romantic. Suddenly, the signs indicated that a significant color moment was unfolding before me.
Though I would love to claim credit for inventing such a whimsical name, I must acknowledge my colleague, Maxine Eggenberger, the deputy editor of Who What Wear UK, who highlighted the shade after a press appointment with the Savette team in Paris. With its fairytale-like allure and undeniable versatility, I am confident that glass slipper blue will serve as a soft, sophisticated counterpoint to the louder trends of the season.
In search of a bit more whimsy for my everyday style, I have compiled a selection of the emerging color trend along with some fantastic styling inspiration. Continue reading to explore the glass slipper blue color trend.
