I Tested Out This Curve-Friendly Denim Brand for the First Time—Here Are the Jeans I'm Currently Wearing.
As someone who has had a lifelong passion for fashion and personal style, it’s fair to say that I enjoy the process of getting dressed. What I cherish most is the excitement of discovering that ideal piece that fits perfectly—a piece you know you’ll want to wear for years. Over the years, I’ve found some fantastic clothing, yet there has always been one category that posed a challenge for me: jeans. It’s well known that a good pair of denim can be a foundational item in any wardrobe. With options ranging from dark to light washes and various cuts like bootcut, wide-leg, low-rise, and high-rise, the perfect pair of jeans can make a significant difference in your closet. At WWW, we really appreciate denim and enjoy reviewing top styles. As a plus-size woman with curvy features, finding an inclusive denim brand that fits my hips well has been difficult—until now.
I've heard a lot about Good American's impressive range of sizes and its commitment to addressing common issues faced by those on the fringes of fashion retail, like waist gaps for curvier figures, short inseam lengths for taller people, and limited sizing options. A fellow WWW editor even praised the brand’s amazing wide-leg, trouser-like Good Skate style. Given all of this, I thought trying on some Good American jeans might help me find denim that suits my body better. Good American kindly provided me with several pairs, and you can read my detailed review of five styles below. Keep scrolling for my candid opinions on the jeans I tested and where to purchase them.
**Good 90s Relaxed Jeans**
**My Review:** Among all the pairs I tried, the Good 90s Relaxed Jeans were the ones I wore the most. They feature a mid-rise waist, a drop-crotch, and a loose, straight fit through the hips. These jeans fit snugly at the waist but have a relaxed-leg design that adds a bit more structure, making them look more tailored, especially around the hips and waist. However, this style has a more casual vibe that can be dressed up with kitten heels or boots paired with a nice blouse. When I tried them on, I immediately noticed the absence of gaps in the waistband, thanks to the gap-proof design present in all Good American jeans. Usually, I struggle with gaping due to my larger waist-to-hip ratio, but that wasn't a problem here, which was a nice surprise. I also appreciated that the jeans reached the full length of my legs—as someone who is 5’9”, that’s often not the case. A win for tall individuals!
**Size range:** 00 to 30
**Inseam:** 32 inches
**Sizing tip:** Since these jeans have a mid-rise, consider sizing up for a lower waist fit.
**Pros:** Gap-proof waistband, reinforced belt loops, tummy-smoothing technology
**Cons:** May require hemming for shorter individuals

**Good 90s Carpenter Jeans**
**My Review:** I wanted to try another Good 90s style because I liked the trendy carpenter details. I’m pleased that I tested these because I found the Good 90s Carpenter style runs larger and has a baggier fit compared to the Good 90s Relaxed style. While these are also mid-rise, they sit a bit lower on the waist. I wore a short block heel in the photo above, which gave the carpenter jeans a great slouchy look. If you're on the shorter side, you might want to hem them if baggy legs aren’t your style. Otherwise, they work fine as they are. If you're after that effortless baggy denim appearance, these could be the ones for you. Pair them with T-shirts, sneakers, and relaxed baseball caps for a casual look.
**Size range:** 00 to 30
**Inseam:** 32 inches
**Sizing tip:** Size down for a more fitted silhouette.
**Pros:** Gap-proof waistband, reinforced belt loops, tummy-smoothing technology
**Cons:** These jeans tend to run a bit large and may be longer for shorter individuals

**Soft-Tech Good Skate Wide Jeans**
**My Review:** Before I ever tried Good American jeans, I had heard great things about the brand’s Good Skate cut. The trouser-like shape has created a buzz among wide-leg denim aficionados. I chose to try the Soft-Tech Good Skate jeans because they use a unique blend of denim and Tencel that results in an exceptionally soft fabric. With a high waist and oversized legs, these jeans provide a stylish look. However, I found the length quite long without heels, making them challenging to walk in comfortably. I might consider hemming my pair. On the other hand, if you frequently wear high heels, these could be a perfect fit for you. I could size down if I wanted, but it isn't strictly necessary since the fabric has a bit
