5 Spring Fashion Trends That Everyone in My Brooklyn Community Is Set to Embrace
The current weather in New York embodies all the characteristics of spring—it warms up momentarily, then the sun shines but it’s still frigid, followed by two consecutive days of rain. Here in Williamsburg, situated along the East River, the sporadic icy gusts from the water can bring actual tears to my eyes. Despite our enthusiastic discussions about spring and the outfits that go with it, the reality in the city isn't quite as delightful. If you were keeping up with the recent fashion shows in Paris, you'd know that other regions in the northern hemisphere are experiencing a much more pleasant start to the season. With mild sunshine, unusually warm breezes, and considerably fewer bouts of freezing temperatures, it’s the kind of spring charm that NYC likely won’t see until sometime in April. Once those reliable 60-degree days arrive, fashion will be more than prepared. Here are the stylish (and distinctly New York) spring outfit trends, from soft-yellow button-downs to suede jackets and white skirts, that I anticipate will flood my Brooklyn neighborhood once spring truly arrives.
Liquid Pants + Cropped Trench
Cropped trenches are set to replace heavier coats, particularly oversized ones inspired by menswear. They pair well with everything but feel especially compatible with the liquid-satin pants you may have purchased last year and will likely wear more frequently in 2025.

Suede Jacket + White A-Line Skirt
Reflecting on last year's investment pieces, those A-line white skirts still have plenty of life left, especially as they have been paired repeatedly with long black vests and sandals. A tailored suede jacket, the ideal lightweight layer, looks particularly fresh with them. The option from Mango below is excellent.

Double Denim + Practical Accessories
The collarless-blazer trend has now made its way into denim jackets, positively influencing the rising trend of double-denim outfits. (Maybe it’s a standard spring trend or a nod to our Canadian friends?) Adding a white shirt is entirely optional but advisable, then incorporate your most practical commuting accessories and feel no need to apologize.

Your Favorite Outfit + Something in Butter Yellow
Butter-yellow details are the quickest way to revitalize a typical outfit this spring. The beauty of color trends is that they can be seamlessly integrated into your most cherished, highly wearable outfits for a refreshing twist. Switching your white button-down for a soft-yellow version requires minimal effort but offers a delightful change.

Legs Out + Snakeskin Flats
I’m still fond of this look from last year, which was undoubtedly ahead of its time. The classic, quintessentially spring white minidress styled under a jacket that resembles one borrowed from a less-innocent high school sweetheart is excellent. The snake-pattern flats play a key role here, reminding you that it’s 2025 and animal-print accessories are here to make a statement.
