The award season has concluded, and the statistics are available—celebrities requested *these* makeup styles the most.
I've established a routine for award show evenings. I always face the challenge of figuring out the platform streaming the red carpet, signing up for any necessary 30-day trials, and then watching in awe as numerous sparkling celebrities glide down the red carpet, posing skillfully to showcase their latest runway fashion or vintage pieces. There are countless elements to take in, but the detail that I often find myself captivated by (and contemplating how to replicate) is the makeup. We've witnessed trends like heavy blush rising to prominence on and off the red carpet and middle parts making a comeback, along with other beauty trends originating from award seasons in the past. With the conclusion of this season marked by the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars, for the casual observer), I felt compelled to conduct a comprehensive review of the beauty trends across this year’s various red carpets, spanning film and music, to identify which looks shared the most similarities—and the most sought-after makeup artists of the season confirmed these insights.
"I've noticed a shift towards a more transparent approach to red carpet makeup—not as many bold colors and heavy pigments right now," notes celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. She is behind Emma Stone’s radiant look at the Oscars and Sophie Thatcher's retro-inspired glam, viewing celebrities as the ultimate trendsetters rather than drawing influence from external ideals—though these looks often pave the way for future trends. "I always tailor each makeup to the individual's personality and unique style to highlight the version of them that feels most authentic," she adds. "I feel proud whenever I can achieve that." Below are the three makeup trends that were frequently requested by busy makeup artists during this glamorous award season.
**Glowy Skin**
From “glass skin” to slugging, it's clear that celebrities will go to great lengths for glowing skin—especially on the red carpet. According to the experts, it begins with skincare and facial sculpting. "Hydrated skin is essential for successful makeup, in my opinion, but too much product can make the foundation slide off," explains Goodwin. "It's about finding the right balance." She dedicates most of her efforts to skincare prep because "glowing skin is always in," regardless of the overall look.
To achieve her clients’ flawless bases, Goodwin follows a tried-and-true routine: “I begin with IS Clinical Copper Firming Mist and IS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance+, then use a NuFace on the jawline and under-eye area,” she shares. Goodwin starts with the eyes, keeping Bioeffect eye masks on until she transitions to the complexion. Whether this involves a sun-kissed bronze, a light-reflecting blush, or a dewy finish, celebrities maintain their glow well beyond serums and masks. "My most requested look has been a radiant, glowing complexion with soft peachy-pink tones on the cheeks," states Rokael Lizama, who counts Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian among his clients. The key is to start with a luminous foundation for a natural shine, and Lizama creates this effect using Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick. “It gives a radiant, even, dewy complexion,” he explains.
But the radiance doesn't end there—he often concludes each look by highlighting the prominent areas of the face and décolleté with a blendable highlighter, such as Dior's rosy Glow Maximizer.
**MUA Tip**
“Always apply complexion products in very thin layers and build as necessary to achieve the most flawless, long-lasting base,” suggests Lizama. “Lightweight, often gel-based moisturizers help extend the wear of my clients' makeup and create a poreless look.”

- **Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick**
This stick promises all-day hydration, 24-hour coverage, and an inner glow.
- **Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation**
"I've always found Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation to be perfect for the red carpet," remarks Archangela Chelsea, renowned makeup artist for Olivia Munn.
- **111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask 5 Pack**
Chelsea recommends using a face mask before applying makeup. "Investing in your skin is crucial—flawless skin leads to flawless makeup."
- **Bioeffect Imprinting Eye Masks**
These gel eye masks, infused with hyaluronic acid and glycerin, reduce puffiness and wrinkles, restoring a fresh appearance.
**Old Hollywood Rouge**
The obsession with blush has persisted for a few years now, and this award season made it clear that this trend is still thriving. Sabrina Carpenter's makeup artist, Carolina Gonzalez, spearheaded the “Old Hollywood” look with classic lips and cheeks enhancing the star's various red carpet appearances, favoring a minimal eye paired with a bold lip. Many of Gonzalez’s clients desired a “romantic” look that features skin-forward glamour with vivid blush. However, she noted that “full lips and fluffy
