The charm of skirts lies in the fact that no matter how much effort I invest in styling one, the payoff is always significantly greater. Not only do I feel more at ease, but I also appear far more polished than if I opted for ordinary cut-offs. Although I wear skirts throughout the year, in summer, they become my go-to choice.
Naturally, I have a few skirt essentials that I always keep in rotation—a silk midi, a linen maxi, and a black mini—but with each day, it becomes more apparent that summer is nearing, and my wardrobe is definitely in need of a few more pieces. This year, I’m on the hunt for skirts that make styling effortless. (Imagine a cute polka dot style paired with an eyelet tank or a button-front skirt matched with a simple white tee.) Luckily, after doing a quick check-in and asking our editors about the skirts they're excited about this season, it seems that the variety of skirts for 2025 is abundant. Perhaps it's just my enthusiasm talking, but right now, my challenge isn’t finding skirts to add to my wishlist; it’s choosing from my extensive list of favorites.
After careful consideration, here are the 15 must-have skirts that made it to my summer 2025 wishlist.
GAP
There's not much femininity in my closet, mostly because I prefer structure over soft fabrics and patterns. However, I've recently enjoyed mixing contrasting pieces, so I've started adding softer silhouettes like this tiered skirt to my spring collection to wear with loafers and blazers.

Surprisingly, I don’t own a plain white skirt. Much like a white dress, a white skirt can be styled in countless ways, making it essential for me to finally get one. I like that this particular skirt comes in an off-white shade, which feels more versatile for styling. And the side pleating? Absolutely beautiful.
Abercrombie & Fitch
If it comes in polka dots, there's a good chance it will be added to my collection. I can be picky about the size of the dots and typically prefer larger ones over smaller scales. The pattern on this skirt? Perfect. Plus, it’s actually a skort! Consider it a done deal.
Eloquii
This cotton maxi skirt features tiered details that make it ideal for dressing up summer basics like tanks and tees. Its pull-on waist also guarantees comfort, making it a piece you’ll want to wear throughout the warmer months.
Abercrombie & Fitch
I've never visited Martha's Vineyard, but during summer, I like to dress like a typical New England vacationer. In my search for my usual stripes, I found this pattern and instantly fell in love.
Sézane
While I adore bold prints and vivid colors, I also keep a good supply of simple, neutral bottoms in my wardrobe. They are essential for holding my summer outfits together and serve as a great base for more statement tops. I’m always searching for pieces with unique details, and this one’s belted waist and button-front closure are spot on.
BLANKNYC
Before you dismiss this suggestion entirely, let me clarify that suede can indeed be worn all year long. I have a pair of suede mini shorts that I wore frequently last year, which has motivated me to find a suede mini skirt for spring and summer. This one fits the requirement perfectly—and it’s very reasonably priced.
Madewell
As a personal stylist, I’ve recommended this skirt to more clients than I can count. After seeing how fantastic it looks on them, I knew I had to order one for myself as well. I love the orange-red hue that adds the perfect splash of color to summer outfits.
Anthropologie
I spent most of last spring exclusively styling a butter yellow, and now that it’s been announced as the must-have color for spring 2025, I'm on the lookout for more options. A yellow skirt is at the top of my wishlist, and with a price under $100, it’s safe to say my search has come to an end.
Aligne
In my opinion, you can never have too many poplin skirts. They are just as comfortable as they are stylish and can elevate the simplest tops. With that said, I’ve somehow never had a striped one, so it's very likely this one will be arriving at my door next week.
Abercrombie & Fitch
I possess this skirt in white and have worn it so often that I'm considering purchasing it in another color. Although I'm not usually drawn to blue, this lovely shade is so stunning that I simply can’t resist. I’ll be pairing
