I Only Want to Fragrance Expensive—These New High-Street Perfumes Have Really Impressed.

If you're in search of some of the finest perfumes available, I strongly recommend visiting your local high street stores. You might be wondering if luxury perfumes are superior. As a beauty editor, I’ve experienced a wide range of pricey scents over the years, and while I do appreciate these fragrances, many of my current favorite high street retailers are launching more affordable options that rival designer fragrances. Here at Who What Wear UK, we've shared our enthusiasm for these high-street perfumes in various articles. We've compiled lists of the best fragrances from Zara, the top scents from & Other Stories, and even the finest M&S perfumes that you can buy. Therefore, when we learned that COS was debuting its own fragrance line, we were thrilled.

COS is one of those brands that consistently delivers quality. The clothing and accessories are always elegantly designed, so my expectations were high when I received the curated selection of scents. The bottles embody the minimalist style the brand is known for, but how do the fragrances measure up? Continue reading for my candid review of each COS perfume.

I tested every single COS fragrance.

The Best COS Perfumes: Evaluated by a Beauty Editor

      Best floral scent: COS Fleuriste

      Best woody scent: COS Solaire

      Best gourmand scent: COS Auburn

      Best fresh scent: COS Mythe

      1. COS Fleuriste

Key notes: Bergamot, mandarin, pink pepper, rose, magnolia, peony, vanilla

      Best for: Everyday wear

First on the list is one of my favorites from the collection, Fleuriste. Despite not being a typical floral fragrance fan, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this scent. It's a fresh, delicate interpretation of a classic floral perfume. Each note reveals itself on the skin, offering a scent that feels both modern and exciting. It begins with lively bergamot and mandarin, followed by a trio of floral notes. When it dries down, a musky, slightly woody base emerges, providing a smooth, creamy comfort. I believe this fragrance will be among the brand's top sellers, as it’s hard to imagine anyone disliking it. It's certainly suitable for spring and summer due to its citrusy undertones, but the warm base also makes it a lovely choice for autumn and winter.

      2. COS Solaire

Key notes: Olibanum, black pepper, amber, benzoin, cedarwood, musk

      Best for: Evening wear

This fragrance is quite different from the previous one, yet I am equally enamored with it. To me, this scent is a true masterpiece. It takes you on a journey as each note unfolds, evolving on the skin over time. It’s both fresh and spicy, yet warm and comforting, and completely unique. While I usually associate notes like amber and cedarwood with autumn and winter, I could easily see myself wearing this on a warm summer evening when I want my perfume to make a statement. For £75, it's hard to believe how luxurious this fragrance smells.

      3. COS Auburn

Key notes: Vanilla, cardamom, coffee, sandalwood

      Best for: Evening wear

This fragrance exemplifies why I will always rave about high-street perfumes. It exudes elegance and luxury, and I can envision saving it for special occasions. It’s a gourmand scent, where the sweetness of vanilla is beautifully complemented by warm coffee and spicy cardamom notes. It’s smooth, alluring, and slightly smoky, and to be honest, it's quite addictive. This fragrance should come with a caution—once you start spritzing it, you might find it hard to stop.

      4. COS Mythe

Key notes: Ginger, cardamom, bergamot, vetiver

      Best for: Daytime wear

You know those perfumes that can completely uplift your mood? This is one of them. It’s truly invigorating thanks to the ginger and bergamot notes, and just one spritz will awaken your senses. If I were to describe its aroma, I would say it’s akin to stepping into a luxurious spa and enjoying a refreshing dip in the plunge pool before indulging in an invigorating body scrub while sipping fresh lemon tea. Who wouldn’t want to smell like that?
