It's Official: Kiss Curls Took Center Stage at the 2025 Met Gala Red Carpet

      This year's Met Gala theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," honors Black dandyism, and celebrity guests showed their respect in various ways, including perfectly fitted suits, structured bobs, and swoopy kiss curls, which arguably emerged as the evening's most prominent hair trend. Need evidence? Just look at the hairstyles of Simone Biles, Dua Lipa, and Sydney Sweeney, among many others, showcasing stunning variations and the products used to achieve them.

      What Are Kiss Curls? You might wonder. Similar to laid edges, kiss curls are slicked down for a detailed, artistic appearance, but they specifically refer to a few dramatic strands (or even just one) twisted on the forehead. Josephine Baker popularized this distinctive style in the 1920s, which explains the abundance of kiss curls on the red carpet that night. They complement any hairstyle, from low buns to pixies and large braids, providing endless red carpet inspiration.
