The Internet Claims This Popular Tool Works Like a Magic Wand for Puffy Eyes—I Was Doubtful, So I Decided to Give It a Try
With my constantly shifting sleep schedule, I often wake up with puffy eyes. Some days, I’m a genuine night owl, while on others, I thrive as an early bird. Ideally, I would adhere to a strict bedtime routine, but that doesn’t seem likely any time soon. Since I can’t eliminate the consequences of my erratic sleep patterns, I’ve decided to utilize my beauty routine to combat the appearance of tired eyes. I’ve experimented with everything from eye masks and cooling facial masks to simply placing a cold cloth over my eyes for a short while.
I primarily use my gua sha or jade roller for skincare, but one day while scrolling through TikTok, I stumbled upon a video featuring Therabody's TheraFace Depuffing Wand. After diving into numerous reviews, I felt compelled to try it out to see if it lives up to its reputation. Want to know the outcome? Keep reading for my detailed review.
**How to Use It**
One aspect I appreciate about this device is its user-friendly nature. The instructions are clear, and the packaging includes a QR code that links to resources demonstrating various techniques and tips. To begin, remove the cap and set it aside—although it may seem natural to place it on the back of the unit, don't do that as it could obstruct the vents and disrupt airflow, which is essential for regulating the treatment temperature. When you’re ready to activate it, press and hold either the hot or cold button based on your desired treatment.
Once activated, you can choose the intensity of your treatment. The hot and cold options each have three settings: cold, colder, and coldest (ranging from 50 to 57°F), and hot, hotter, and hottest (ranging from 95 to 108°F). The intensity is indicated by three LED lights beneath the two main buttons. Allow the wand one minute to reach your selected temperature. After that, you can start your treatment, beginning on one side of your face and moving from the inner sections outward—similar to using a gua sha. Each session lasts six minutes, and halfway through, the light at the tip will flash to signal that it’s time to switch to the other side. The device will automatically turn off after six minutes.
**Does it work? Before & After**
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Depuffing Wand was effective. I achieved the best results by starting with the cold setting and finishing with the heat. Initially, I was skeptical about seeing results in just a few minutes, but the combination genuinely made me look less fatigued. However, optimal results appear with consistent use, so I’m interested to see what would happen if I used it for a month or two.
In terms of ease of use, I found it uncomplicated to glide the tool across my face with gentle pressure (particularly under the eyes!). I appreciated the cold setting for alleviating dark circles and puffiness while also contouring my jawline and cheekbones. At the same time, the heat function enhanced product absorption when used with skincare.
**Therabody TheraFace Depuffing Wand**
**Pros:** Temperature control, TSA approved, user-friendly
**Cons:** The cold setting can be somewhat noisy, and the highest intensities might irritate sensitive skin
**Is the TheraFace Depuffing Wand worth it?**
This product feels like a spa treatment you can take anywhere, making it a worthwhile investment. It’s ideal for night owls, early risers, or anyone who enjoys a bit of self-pampering. Although I’ve used it at home, I believe it's also an excellent purchase for frequent travelers, as it's TSA approved. It’s compact, and the motor operates quietly, so I will be bringing it with me on all future trips for work and leisure. This wand could also complement Therabody's TheraFace Pro.
While it may take some time to see long-lasting results, this is the case with all skincare tools and products. Trust me, you won't regret this indulgence.
