We Revisited Each Taylor Swift Album—Here’s Our Ranking

I was relaxing and catching up on sleep during my PTO last Friday when I received a text from a coworker containing just a link to Taylor Swift's website, no additional message included. Naturally, my groggy mind immediately thought of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). Finally! After years of analyzing what we believed were clues to the eagerly awaited release, the moment had arrived. Unfortunately, I was mistaken yet again. However, what we actually received was even better.

On May 30, 2025, Taylor Swift shared a letter on her website announcing that after six long years of Scooter Braun owning her masters, she had bought them back. This was a momentous occasion for both Taylor and her fans, leading to widespread celebration. “All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me,” she wrote. Aware that this announcement would raise more questions, Taylor also detailed the status of the final two Taylor’s Version albums yet to be released. Her debut album is finished, with fans speculating (will we ever find out?) that it may be released when it turns 20 in 2026. On the contrary, Reputation is only about a quarter complete, but Taylor has hinted that those vault tracks could arrive at some point in the future (let's hope!).

In the meantime, fans marked the occasion by streaming all of Taylor Swift's "stolen" versions of her earlier albums, helping them to climb the charts on iTunes, Spotify, and even Billboard. Not wanting to miss out on anything related to Swift, The Everygirl’s devoted fans joined in the celebration, but we took it a step further by re-listening to Taylor Swift's full discography, including Taylor’s Versions, and ranking them. Our listeners rated each album based on music, lyrics, and overall cohesion out of 10 to arrive at these rankings. We anticipate that some of these scores may spark debate, so read on to discover how your favorite album fared.

      15. Taylor Swift

This score was quite consistent among our Swifties. While this album is certainly filled with hits and beloved fan favorites, nostalgia can only elevate it so much. We won't skip any tracks from this album if they pop up in our playlist, but we must admit that, compared to the rest of Taylor’s body of work, her debut album isn't the strongest. It’s simple and youthful, and that’s perfectly fine! However, I believe that hearing Taylor’s version of this album, with her mature vocals, would alter many opinions.

      Score: 5.4

Favorite songs: “Our Song,” “Should’ve Said No,” “Mary’s Song,” “Stay Beautiful,” “Teardrops On My Guitar,” “I’m Only Me When I’m With You”

      14. Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

Now that Taylor has regained ownership of the original Fearless, it’s unlikely that the re-records will find their way back to our playlists. While the nostalgia surrounding her debut album didn’t hold much weight, we must recognize that this re-record lacks the youthful energy that made the original so special. Nevertheless, “Mr. Perfectly Fine” is a vault track we’re keeping.

      Score: 6.9

      Favorite song: “Mr. Perfectly Fine”

      13. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is the first album that splits our listeners. Some consider the album “meh” overall, while others appreciate the vault tracks, and some feel those tracks ought to have stayed hidden. Ultimately, despite the TikTok fame of “Enchanted,” our enthusiasm for this re-record faded once 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was released a few months later.

      Score: 7.2

Favorite song: “When Emma Falls In Love”

      12. Fearless

Fearless is a unanimous favorite among us all. It takes us back to the time when it was released and is the first album we think of when we hear “classic Taylor”—apologies, Debut. Fearless will forever be the quintessential Taylor album, the one that put her on the map. It is still recognized as the most awarded country album of all time, and it was when the world began to realize that Taylor Swift would be a significant force in the industry. However, after this album, Taylor consistently improved, so while we cherish it, its rank remains lower on our list.

      Score: 7.26

Favorite songs: “The Way I Loved You,” “Fifteen,” “White Horse,” “The Other Side of the Door,” “Fearless”

      11. Speak Now

When critics alleged that Taylor lacked talent, she responded by writing Speak Now entirely on her own. This determination to prove herself has characterized her entire career. However, this album is somewhat underappreciated in her discography. It didn’t make as significant an impact as Fearless and doesn’t hold the same resonance
