"Secrets of Kamchatka": multimedia expedition to the edge of the world opens in Moscow

From July 2 to September 14, 2025, the fascinating exhibition "Big Country: Secrets of Kamchatka" opens in the very center of the capital on Pyatnitskaya Street — an immersion into one of the most mysterious and inaccessible corners of the planet.

This is an invitation to an exciting journey through the Kamchatka Territory, where you can get acquainted with the majestic volcanic nature, be impressed by unique photographs of wild animals, immerse yourself in the history of the discovery of the region and hear the fascinating sounds of endangered indigenous languages.

"Kamchatka in general, of course, is our diamond, a nature reserve in general, everything there is protected. I have never seen anything more beautiful in the world than Kamchatka," Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier.

      Zhivaya Kamchatka — without filters

"Our task is not just to tell about Kamchatka, but to give an opportunity to hear its voice, to see it through the eyes of a companion, an explorer and a person living in harmony with this harsh and beautiful land. We hope that every visitor will bring with them not only knowledge, but also a keen interest in the region," explains Masha Aizina, head of the space.

The exhibition allows you not only to learn about Kamchatka, but also to stand on its land — even if only for a moment.

      Here you can:

Take a picture against the backdrop of the panoramic landscape of the peninsula, as if you were at the foot of a volcano.

See wild animals live through the lenses of the best wildlife photographers: seals, brown bears, birds of prey and fiery red foxes.

Listen to endangered languages — Even, Koryak, Chukchi, and Itelmen. These sounds are fading away, but they can still be heard.

To touch the pages of the first geographical expeditions, interactive panels will tell about the heroes who discovered Kamchatka for the world, and show the stages of the great exploration race.

A movie that breathes a volcano

Special attention is paid to daily free screenings of documentaries:

"Sockeye salmon. Red Fish" (every morning at 11:00) is a contemplative movie about the natural rituals of Kamchatka, where fish, water and time play the main role.

"The Fiery Fox" (every evening at 18:30) is a chamber story about a fox as a symbol of wild Kamchatka, free and silent as the earth itself.

These are rare documentaries where not a person talks about nature, but nature itself leads the story. They not only delight, they make you freeze. It was as if someone had carefully opened the door to another world.

The Commander Islands National Park, the Kronotsky State Nature Reserve and the Nature Conservationists Foundation will hold a series of events (lectures, workshops, presentations and film screenings) where visitors will be able to get acquainted with the unique, wild and protected nature of Kamchatka and the Commander Islands.

The mission is not to show, but to awaken

According to the organizers, the goal of the project is not just to tell about Kamchatka, but to evoke a vivid emotion, to include attention and compassion for the elusive beauty.

"We want people not only to see Kamchatka, but to feel that it speaks to them. He speaks with the voice of the wind, the languages of indigenous peoples, the rustle of paws on the grass, the look of a fox. It's about connecting with the living and the fragile," said Evgeny Vlasov, Head of the Kamchatka Territory Representative Office.

The context of the exhibition is a big country

The exhibition about Kamchatka is just one part of a large project. The Bolshaya Strana space is dedicated to the most beautiful, little-known and amazing regions of Russia. Here you can embark on a multimedia journey through eight corners of the country — from the snow-capped peaks to the Baikal depths, hear the aromas of the regions, immerse yourself in the atmosphere of legends and legends.

The project was implemented with the support of the Representative Office of the Kamchatka Territory and under the patronage of PIONEER.
