I'm creating a summer wardrobe inspired by French style—these Sèzane items caught my attention the most.
In my early 20s, I spent a year studying at a university in the south of France. Almost immediately after arriving, I went out to find a local café for a quick coffee and a little fashion inspiration, and whenever I wasn’t studying, I could be found there, drawing ideas from the locals. I've always admired the way the French dress. Their style is well-coordinated, relies on beautifully crafted classics, and exudes a relaxed sophistication that is effortlessly chic. Recently, I returned to Aix-en-Provence and felt a strong urge to replicate the timelessly elegant outfits that distinguish Gallic dressers. Naturally, I went straight to Sézane.
Combining French elegance with exquisite fabrics, Sézane has gained a reputation for its lovely offerings. Its shelves boast a variety of best-sellers, such as the Wills Jacket and Gaspard Cardigan, both of which I have praised before. With the arrival of summer, I was eager to see how the brand marries the nonchalant essence of French dressing with its renowned quality fabrics and thoughtful cuts. To quell my excitement, I can confirm that I was very impressed. Whether in the city or traveling abroad, the three outfits I assembled will definitely serve their purpose. Plus, they are stylish enough to last for many years. Sézane excels not just in one area but offers refined designs across all pieces—from tailored clothing to accessories. If you're aiming to infuse a bit of French style into your summer wardrobe, I suggest you keep reading.

1. Tailored Set + Sandals + Basket Bag (Image credit: @florriealexander)
Style Notes: When I entered the store, the only item I knew I had to try was this pinstripe set. I had previously tried on the matching tailored trousers earlier in the spring, which were an ideal fit and silhouette for me, so of course I wanted to see if the shorts had the same polished aesthetic. And they did. The crisp pleats and cuffed hem complement the refined pinstripe fabric, making the outfit suitable for both work and a classy lunch date.
Naturally, the coordinating top completed the look for me. A matching set is one of my go-to summer staples, not only for its ready-made outfit appeal but also for its versatility when each piece can be mixed and matched with other items in my wardrobe. I chose my usual sizes, and it fit perfectly. The set is sharp enough for smarter occasions while also pairing nicely with simple sandals and a quintessential French accessory—a basket bag.
The Justine basket bag is one I’ve already seen stylish women carrying around Europe this summer; it has all the characteristics of a designer bag without the hefty price tag. It’s spacious, crafted from raffia with leather handles, ensuring both durability and a chic finish. Altogether, I wanted to leave the store in this outfit.
Shop the look: I've worn it on its own, but I adore it paired with a basic white T-shirt.

2. Linen Dress + Ballet Flats + Crossbody Bag (Image credit: @florriealexander)
Style Notes: Whether you are wandering the cobbled streets of Provence in search of a croissant or looking for a matcha in central London, the easiest summer outfit is a simple dress paired with flats.
The lightweight linen fabric makes this mini dress perfect for the hottest days, and its shift silhouette gives it a classic touch. I tried it in a striking blue, but it comes in various colors, including a gingham version that’s next on my wishlist. I was able to try on a size 10, but I typically wear a size 8.
To complement the dress, I chose one of the brand's best-selling bags, the Claude, which is so popular that it’s available in numerous shades and textures, including the soft pink Rosewood. The crossbody strap is ideal for hands-free convenience and offers a surprisingly spacious interior. I might also tuck the strap inside and use it as a clutch for the evening.
Opting for a French classic, I completed the look with charming ballet flats. Woven styles are a must-have this summer, and the elegant almond toe paired with the raffia and leather composition caught my eye. Again, I selected my regular size and must note how comfortable they are.
Shop the look: Simple yet incredibly effective.
