MOSCOW, August 18 — The Gallery of Contemporary Art "ZDES' on Taganka" hosted the grand opening of the debut solo exhibition by IOWA's lead singer Katya Tereshchenko, titled "Sympoesis." The evening was a double celebration: alongside the opening, Katya marked her birthday. The project, which brought together painting, sculpture, music and poetry, proved to be a genuine revelation for guests and presented the artist in a new, unexpected light.
"Sympoesis" is not just an exhibition, but a whole universe created by Katya of IOWA under the curatorship of Vladimir Mank. The term, meaning "co-creation," perfectly reflects the concept of the project: here every element — from large-scale canvases and clay sculptures to poetic lines and specially composed sound design — exists in an inseparable connection, generating new meanings.
The opening gathered many of Katya's friends and colleagues who came to support her in this important endeavor. Among the guests were Ekaterina Shpitsa, Nadezhda Sysoyeva, Elena Bezrukova, Tosya Chaykina, Anton Lavrentiev and Arina Ostrovskaya, Ksenia Minaeva, as well as other representatives of the art world and show business.
The highlight of the evening was a touching surprise from the guests and the team. Katya confessed that she had never been given birthday cakes in her life. In response, her friends presented her with 38 cakes — one for each year of her life. This incredibly warm gesture brought the birthday girl and everyone present to tears, filling the evening with sincere emotion.
The warm and relaxed atmosphere was helped along by the event’s official partners. Guests enjoyed exquisite cognac and cocktails from François de Martignac and elegant hors d’oeuvres prepared by the LMDG catering team. A wonderful complement was the crystal-clear water NEDRA: https://nedrawater.com
The interactive partner of the evening was the MAX app, adding a modern technological accent to the event.
Katya IOWA (Tereshchenko):
"For me, 'Sympoesis' is a very personal story. It’s a way to talk about what is difficult to express in songs. I am happy to share this world with you and grateful to everyone who came and shared this moment with me. And what happened with the cakes… I simply have no words. Thank you for giving me a dream I never had! Your support and love are priceless."
The exhibition "Sympoesis" will run until September 7 at the gallery "ZDES' on Taganka." It is a must-visit for anyone ready for a dialogue with contemporary art and who wants to discover new facets of the talent of one of the brightest artists on the Russian stage.
