      Out of all the beauty professions available, perfumery stands out as one of the most artisanal and exclusive. Acclaimed "noses," professionals devoted to crafting and assessing scent combinations, are often chosen from renowned perfumery schools, typically in France, and believed to number fewer than 500 globally. Throughout her youth, Sofie Pavitt aspired to join their ranks. "I’ve always had a strong scent memory," the well-known aesthetician tells Who What Wear. She ultimately became known in NYC as the "acne whisperer" and a sought-after facialist for celebrities (certainly a remarkable path), yet she has still managed to integrate fragrances into her work. While her product offerings are free of scents ("Our clients are quite sensitive," she notes), Pavitt consistently creates an ambiance with a lovely, fresh scent.       What, then, does a Sofie Pavitt facial smell like? It's bright and clean with an intriguing twist—at least that's according to her newly launched scented candle, The Studio. Produced in partnership with Sidia, a bodycare brand that prioritizes fragrance and also sells nontoxic, hand-poured candles, this blend marks Pavitt's first official studio scent designed to immediately transport users to her Centre Street retreat (no appointment necessary). "[Sidia's founder Erin Kleinberg and I] drew inspiration from the neighborhood, our building, and the scents and sights that surrounded us," Pavitt reveals. "We’ve created a truly unique, bright, clean scent that instantly brings me back to the treatment room." The fragrance begins with sweet mandarin, lively yuzu, and fresh rhubarb, followed by a mix of orange blossom, pineapple flower, and neroli that adds a fruity-floral punch. Finally, a hint of rose water, blonde woods, and white musk provide a warm, grounding base. After trying a sample of the candle, I can attest that it fills my home with the aroma of a luxurious spa and somehow evokes the post-treatment bliss I typically feel after an hour at Pavitt's studio. While the candle can be enjoyed at any time and place—I’ve already received several compliments on the lovely scent in my living room—Pavitt suggests it is particularly effective in the evening. "Create a relaxing atmosphere for your nighttime skincare ritual by lighting the candle 15 minutes before you start," she recommends. "Take a moment to cleanse your skin and pamper yourself under the glow of our candle for a luxurious evening wind-down. Enjoy!"
