Since I began using this nail serum, my nails have stopped breaking, peeling, and bending.
I've always had difficulty growing my nails. It seems that no matter what I try, my nails are bound to break and peel, making it almost impossible to achieve any length. I'm constantly on the lookout for nail growth serums and cuticle oils that can reinforce my nails and improve the appearance of my hands. The best product I've tried to date is, without a doubt, OPI's Repair Mode Nail Serum (£30). Read on for my opinions on the serum, how it works, and my before and after photos. (Even I can hardly believe how much my nails have improved). OPI Repair Mode Nail Serum
**OPI Repair Mode Bond Building Nail Serum**
**Pros:**
- Strengthens and fortifies nails
- Repairs damage by restoring bonds within the nails
- Absorbs quickly with no dry time required
- Effective in just six days
**Cons:**
- On the pricier side
- Requires you to keep nails bare for the first week for twice-daily application
**How It Works**
OPI's Repair Mode utilizes Ulti-Plex technology, which aims to mend the bonds within the nail plate. Think of it as the nail equivalent of Olaplex, providing strength from the inside out. It comes in a serum form that you need to apply to bare nails two times a day for six days. It absorbs instantly, so there's no need to wait for it to dry, and you can apply it under nail polish as well. Just apply two coats and wait ten minutes before putting on your regular polish or gel. It's essential to use it on bare nails, so for the first six days, it's advisable to avoid any polish if possible. However, you can use it on areas of regrowth as your polish wears off. I applied it in the morning and right before bedtime, and after a week, I used my go-to Dior Base Vernis Base Coat (which is also fantastic) to add a protective layer when I wasn’t using nail polish.
**Before**
These are my nails from about three months ago. Despite my efforts, I couldn't get them to grow beyond my fingertips; they were thin, peeling, and easily broke—even with polish on.
**After**
This photo shows my nails around two months after starting OPI Repair Mode, and they look significantly longer. They feel sturdier and are less likely to break or peel. Their thickness also makes the whites of my nails appear brighter. I maintain my results by applying a couple of coats of Repair Mode between manicures, which I remove every 7-10 days. Here, I'm wearing OPI Funny Bunny and Baby, Take A Vow (inspired by Elsa Hosk's recent engagement nails), topped with two coats of Essie Gel Couture Top Coat. Honestly, my nails have never looked or felt better. They are now long enough to shape into oval or almond styles, and the longer length has also made my fingers appear more elongated.
**The Verdict**
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm completely convinced by this nail growth serum. It’s so simple to use, absorbs quickly, and there’s no waiting time. Yes, you’ll have to keep your nails bare for the first week, but it's easy to integrate into any routine, making it an excellent choice for strengthening nails after gel manicures or for those wanting to promote nail growth. At £30, it is one of the most expensive nail serums I've tried, but trust me, it really delivers. There’s a reason it won a Who What Wear Next in Beauty Award.
