From Milan to Chișinău: Discover the 8 Designers Representing Fashion's New Wave in 2025.
In 2025, fashion enthusiasts have an abundance of brands to select from. Across the globe, designers are launching their own labels, drawing on insights gained from mentors, internships, professors, family, and extensive practice to establish themselves in the intense fashion arena. As industry editors, our role is to discover these talents and share their narratives with as many people—and potential customers—as possible. Word of mouth is crucial in fashion; thus, when a new brand enters the scene, whether local or international, we are eager to discuss it. If you share a passion for discovering new fashion voices and wish to find unique pieces for your collection, you've arrived at the right destination. Welcome to Fashion's New Guard, an annual report by Who What Wear showcasing the freshest and most innovative brands worldwide. This year, we feature designers from Monterrey, Mexico; Porto Alegre, Brazil; and Chișinău, Moldova, along with others from London, Los Angeles, and Copenhagen. Each designer has a unique tale expressed through the garments they meticulously create, which we are excited to share. Below, meet the newest members of fashion's emerging movement, from Esånt to Zn Ali.
(Image credit: Esånt) Aline Díaz has had a lifelong passion for clothing, starting in her youth. "I loved dressing my dolls and Barbies," she reveals to Who What Wear. The designer launched her ready-to-wear brand, Esånt, six years ago in Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo León state in northeastern Mexico. Designing offered her creative liberty, allowing her to experiment with various elements and create distinctive, beautiful pieces for women. "Transforming a simple piece of fabric into art is thrilling and fulfilling," she states. "This process has taught me that fashion is not merely about clothing; it's about storytelling and expressing a message." Díaz views fashion as a form of unspoken communication that allows individuals to showcase their identities and beliefs without words. "Our brand is founded on the idea that clothing can mirror one's identity, empowering women to navigate the world with intention, elegance, and strength," states Esånt. The women who wear Díaz's creations are her constant sources of inspiration. "Contemporary women and their expressions inspire me," she shares. "Their grace and movement deeply influence my artistic vision." She aimed to create a wardrobe that acts as a second skin, evolving as women move through life and gain clarity about their aspirations. "In this realm, change is perpetual, and every silhouette reflects the fluidity of self," the brand asserts.
In recent years, Díaz has become acutely aware of the fashion industry's environmental implications, prompting her brand to revise its practices. "I am dedicated to producing designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally conscious and ethically made," she affirms. It was crucial for her pieces to convey a responsible message, allowing wearers to feel positive about the origins of their clothing. Since launching her brand in 2018, Díaz has dressed notable tastemakers like Christie Tyler, Mimi Nguyen, Stephanie Broek, and Leandra Medine Cohen.
How would you characterize the Esånt universe? Beautiful, simple, powerful, empowering, authentic, and significant.
What influences your designs and inspiration from Monterrey? The day-to-day experiences of women in my community, each with unique tastes and cherished family lives, have enriched my understanding of the captivating world of modern women.
Where do you turn in Monterrey when creativity wanes? Home, nature, and meditation.

Having moved to the UK from Pakistan at age five, his ready-to-wear brand Zn Ali was born in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic with a mission to recreate the shawl worn by his mother at her wedding. "She had lost it during our family's many moves," he explains to Who What Wear. "I had to discover how to replicate the colors, textiles, and embroidery seen in old photographs." This meaningful design journey ignited his passion. "It motivated me to persist until the brand evolved into what it is today," he says. Zn Ali serves as an archive of recreated pieces from his family's storytelling.
For the London-based designer, establishing a distinct perspective is vital in brand building. It should transcend the clothing itself and act as a "golden thread" that anchors one’s growth and evolution as a designer. He encourages new designers to step outside conventional boundaries and challenge themselves as storytellers. "Create your brand in a manner that resonates with you," Ali advises. "This industry is continuously evolving, and there's an urgent need for innovative frameworks." Although Zn Ali has been established for just four years, its contributions are already shaping a new paradigm. His creations have graced T Magazine, Vogue, and Dazed, and have been donned by Riz Ahmed for British GQ
