Less than three hours from New York City, in Pennsylvania's Oley Valley, lies Bloom Farm—a popular retreat for wellness practitioners, brands focused on sustainability, and artists of various types. I first learned about this regenerative property a few years ago from my best friend, who has collaborated with them on photography projects and always speaks highly of it as a very unique place. Established in 2023, the 60 acres of preserved land are dedicated to biodiverse practices and are intended for relaxation. The property features a pond, animals, gardens, and trails—perfect for a restorative nature retreat. They also offer an artist-in-residency program open to creatives across many fields, including music and writing. The food provided is locally sourced, and guests can enjoy activities such as yoga, meditation, and breathwork while staying in the farmhouse or one of the cottages.
I was already aware that Citizens of Humanity held a two-night summit there in 2024, so it felt serendipitous to learn that the denim brand has just launched a collection with Moda Operandi called Bloom, inspired by the same visit. "The capsule developed organically after the Citizens team invited me to stay at Bloom Farm,” says Tatiana Hambro, Moda Operandi’s editor at large. “This was no ordinary brand trip—everyone there would agree. I left thoroughly inspired by Citizens’ regenerative cotton initiative. Not to mention the unique charm of Bloom Farm itself. While Citizens’ jeans are undeniably stylish, I felt there was an additional important—and hopefully inspiring—story to share. The pieces, which include dungarees and casual dining placemats, are inspired by the farm but are designed to seamlessly fit into stylish everyday life—wherever you may be. In that way, you can carry a bit of Bloom Farm’s magic with you."
With thoughtful craftsmanship and artisanal details, the 13-piece collection includes both apparel and home goods such as placemats, napkins, coasters, and a farmer's market tote. The capsule is now available for purchase on both Citizens of Humanity and Moda Operandi.
